History
Established in 1984.
Trish & Tony Robinson set up Spectrum Art & Framing using Trish’s training in interior design with Tony’s knowledge of fine art. They have been in the premises for 30 years. The shop is in Selskar, the oldest part of Wexford and the ruin of Selskar Abbey is nearby. In the lane to the north is the site of an ancient spring well and to the south is Trimmers’ Lane, where cargoes were packed for the18thC sailing ships plying their trade from Wexford Harbour across the world.
Spectrum was given a major extension and shopfit in the 90s to provide a fully-equipped framing workshop upstairs and a gallery on the ground floor. This became the Pigyard Gallery, named after Redmond’s drovers’ yard which made way for urban renewal. Selskar soon became an area of restaurants and cafes, craft and antique stores, bookstores and boutiques.
Tony is a Fine Art Trade Guild framer and Spectrum has an excellent reputation for quality work. The art shop and framing counter are manned by Trish and Zsuzsa.
