Ristorante Rino was one of the biggest disappointments of my travels. I had read several reviews online about it where people raved that it was fantastic. This was possibly the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had and the worst Italian food that I’ve ever had and I live in Qatar in the Middle East!!! First, it was full of tourists and no Italians(the tourists were done with their meals and left by the time we were looking at the menu: a sign we should have escaped right then…), which is fine if the food is still good(but it was awful). I imagine this used to be a cute, cosy restaurant frequented by locals. So while we cant blame us tourists, they could at least keep the food decent. The bread was very dry and not freshly made that morning. We had ravioli and mixed seafood. The ravioli was an embarrassment to home-made ravioli in Italy. It lacked flavor inside and was only slightly redeemed by the sauce. We also has some spinach which was ok, at least they didn’t completely mess that one up. The people seemed friendly but the service was terrible, really terrible. This was weird since we were the only ones still there on a Friday night. They didn’t pay attention to us at all, the food came out very, very late and wasn’t warm. We were going to leave, which we should have, but we were trying to be nice. We then paid 70 euro for this awful meal. What a waste of money that could have been spent buying food from the grocery store that tasted better. I am still shocked to this day about the poor quality of this food and this restaurant. I expect that in Italy, any restaurant, anywhere, should be decent and at the very least taste ok!!! Italian food is known for simplicity and a good combination of a few flavors. As a restaurant, they are truly a shame to their country. On another note, while we are all obsessed with checking reviews online, I suggest that you should stick to enjoying this beautiful mountain town, wander the small streets, and stumble into any cute restaurant where you only hear Italian. Don’t be fooled like we were.
