If I were casting this rating based only on the location and property — the hotel would be a hands down 5-star rating. It’s just gorgeous. And, only a few short kilometers from the FCO International airport. It makes for a great overnight stay when in-transit between Italy and an international destination. Now, my rating is a little lower for the overall experience. Honestly, the best review I’ve read came from a Chicago visitor who called it «fatal gift of beauty and the curse of Italy.» It’s just spot on. The place is a bit disorganized — and wholly beautiful at the same time. Here is a brief encapsulation of the issues we faced: We arrived from Venice in the afternoon. We were enroute to an international flight very early the next morning. We wanted to rest, soak in the baths and get our little girl a nice meal. Well, it seems that all dining services close down for a period of time in the afternoon(although the room service advertises hours that span throughout the day). Thankfully a very nice person in the«Light Meals» area(aka: Bar) helped to get us some small sandwiches and glasses of water from the kitchen. She was super helpful — but we needed a more substantial meal for our close to melting down little one. We had some snacks in our room and got her somewhat satiated for the time being and then headed out to the baths. The first thing we noticed — this is not a place for kids. In fact, she was the only one there. It was a bit tough, but we made our way around and enjoyed the time in the beautiful pools. It was now close to 6 pm and we needed to get her real food. Well, the restaurants and the bars do not re-open until after 7 pm. We were, however, told of a buffet that occurred poolside at 6:30 pm. We went back to our rooms, canned clothes and headed out to the pool. Big problem — you need to be in a robe and sandals to participate in the poolside buffet. We were turned away — very politely, but told we needed to change clothes in order to participate. My wife, at this point, was desperate to get our daughter some food. We went back into the bar and asked if there was any way we could order a plate of pasta for our daughter. A wonderful manager — the absolute whole reason this is a 5-star rating — was awesome! He went out of his way to get us food for our daughter — even offering to drive to McDonald’s and get a Happy Meal if we wanted. He was so great. All of this is to say. .. well, the place is beautiful. The baths are spectacular. The rooms are top notch. The grounds are immaculate. And, as noted by another reviewer — there is a bit of a «fatal gift of beauty» going on.

Very beautiful grounds really well-done spa but poor service. The spa is absolutely beautiful and very well-equipped the masseuse I had was nowhere near as experienced as she should beI understand or 10 months old but they have a lot of issues to work out. Hot water not working in our room air conditioning having issues no instructions in the room as to how to call the main desk or attitude by lady at the reception desk so very hit and miss.
