Alloro is a quiet and comfortable and very centrally located to the major sights and really not far from other parts of town walking or short cab ride away. Despite being near the busy San Lorenzo street vendors and mercato centralle, Alloro’s rooms are amazingly quiet. It has five rooms in the back wing of this shared palazzo(two other small B&B in here plus some private residences!) and most face the interior courtyard. Bathrooms are almost bedrooms size and there are frescos on the ceiling. Staff here is just terrific(antoinetta) and will try with their English and welcome your Italian too. Helped us get cabs, make dinner recommendations, handle luggage storage etc. but don’t expect tour/sites recommendations. Breakfast is generous and fresh caps made for you. You will get use to quickly the fact that reception/breakfast area is in the front wing of the palazzo. We had a great time for four nights and so will you.

After long flights and trains it is nice to be able to walk from the train station to your room. Alloro is in a great spot and safe area of town. It’s about a 5 minute walk from Santa Maria novella and it’s away from all the sketch. Alloro is a block from the Medici chapels and san Lorenzo markets. We were very impressed with the design and elegance of the rooms. Ceilings were frescoes, bed was large and comfortable for european standards and the room was huge. We had marble floors throughout and just a really comfortable place to stay. Breakfast served every morning and while the owners do not speak fluent English they try to help as much as possible. Downside was we both got sinus infections and believe it was due to the layers of dust on this ledge above our bed. Hadn’t been cleaned in years. With that being said, the room was very clean and it could have been anything that made us sick. Would consider staying again.
