I have been studying abroad in Florence for almost 5 weeks and was very excited to read about the great food here(and ready for a break from the typical Italian pasta and pizza menu). We checked to make sure the restaurant would be open and when we got there were told that the restaurant was closed for the next three months. Despite the fact that the kitchen was clearly functioning and the staff was all present, we went outside very disappointed. Imagine our surprise when an entire Asian tour group of over thirty people walked in and was seated. It was very frustrating especially when we took extra precautions to make sure they were open and serving food. Overall, would not recommend.

Great food, totally hit the spot so far from home! What we had: — curry chicken — crispy & spicy pork — Korean bbq beef — pad thai — dumpling soup — so much rice haha

After a week of Italian food, I needed something Asian. Buddakan was perfect. They have Chinese, Thai and Korean dishes. I think this is only place you can eat Korean dishes. Even though they have only few choices, it would be ok for tourist. Spring roll was amazing. I liked the Tom yum ghoog. Bi bim bob was just ok. I think the specialty of Buddakan is Thai and Chinese. The servers were kind. I would recommend you to go if you want to try something Asian food.

Restaurant Buddakan is a small Chinese restaurant located in one of the bustling neighborhoods of Florence. We came here after a day of exploring the city. After eating at so many expensive and small-portioned Italian restaurants for the entire week, we decided to eat some Asian food in Italy. Makes sense right? We ordered a couple of dishes including a soup dish and a couple of chicken and vegetable dishes. The portions were VERY large and very satisfactory in terms of flavor. Service was better than most of the other European style restaurants we’ve eaten at in Italy, and all the wait staff were very attentive towards our needs. Always a plus. Overall, it’s a great escape from all the pasta and tomato sauce you see all around in Florence.
