Finishing up the chocolate mouse cake as I write this. Don’t be mistaken this is a restaurant(see bad review below) with amazing flavor! Lasagna was creamy and delicious. Veggies tasty and cooked just right. My main problem is I had to slow down to not inhale it all! Extra star would come if it was a water service or menu was easier to navigate. Def stop when in Florence!

Was in Florence a short while and wanted to make sure I ate something here since they are closed on Tuesdays and I left before they opened on Wednesday. I managed to have a late night snack on Monday and chose one or their raw dishes. I was pleased with what I ordered. Also loved that they were playing a silent footage on a monitor showing animals caring for their young. Very sweet. The other items on their menu looked very good. This place seems to have a lot going for it.

It is really unfortunate that I have to give this awful review about Dolce Vegan. I had been there when they first opened a few years ago and the owner was so nice and their pastries were excellent. We were eager to return after this experience and bragged about the shop to our friends in the US. Being that we are getting married in Italy, my fiancé asked the owner if she would be able to make the wedding cake. He had recently emailed her indicating we would be in Italy for a few days and wanted to stop by the shop to discuss the wedding cake we she confirmed would be not be problem. We arrived on Friday and ordered food and asked to discuss the wedding cake. The owner acted like she had no idea what we were talking about(she speaks English so I know there’s not a language barrier) and refused to acknowledge the fact we were there to discuss the cake. At first I thought it was because she may have been busy but there were only TWO other people in the restaurant. I’m not sure if she has changed the style of the shop(originally it was a bakery with some food) but in any case, she knew we were there to discuss the wedding cake. The customer service we received was really terrible and would have appreciated if the owner was upfront and told us they could not make the cake instead of wasting our time. The food here is okay but there are not many vegan places in Firenze to compare it to(unlike Rome and Milan). Their website is misleading and indicates they provide catering for events but I don’t think they even have the capacity to handle any type of event.

Great food not just for vegans. If your not vegan but want healthy good tasting food this is the place. The vegan gnocchi seitan ragu sauce was very good. You wouldn’t know it’s not real meat lots of flavor in it. Great service.

It was fine. We ordered the tagliatele with seitan ragu(good but what you’d get anywhere), seitan scallopini(uninspired salty slices of seitan), and the tofu croquettes(an over-strong nutritional yeast flavor). It was all a bit too salty. Also had the chocolate panna cotta — never had the real version, but I liked the panna cotta, didn’t care for the ordinary chocolate pudding on top, and found the portion size teensy. Hey, I’m from New York, so maybe I’m spoiled when it comes to vegan food. But I don’t think any non-veg person would go to this restaurant and come away thinking it deserves 4 or 5 stars. The place looked nice, modern but casual. The waiter was nice, although the system of no table service was problematic, with crowds of people just waiting around at the counter for a server to come by.

Hell yeah! Vegan meals in Firenze! I’ll walk through a million cobble-stoned streets to partake! Cute little café with lots of pastry offerings including donuts, cakes and chocolates. To be perfectly honest, I’ve had better vegan bakery selections in the United States. So the four stars is not for that. Their food — really really really good. The special was a Stracetti that was made with wheat gluten(seitan) and root vegetables tossed in an amazing olive oil rendition. So tasty. The lasagna was also rather delicious. The service is great. The lady who owns Dolce Vegan serves up all the goodies at the bakery. She’s very helpful and sweet and speaks enough English to get your orders right. The café/restaurant is cute — small tables, quiet, surrounded by historic shop-houses. Small, intimate, cozy and very comfy. There’s also a quiet, old dog that hangs around. Very cute. If you’re a vegetarian/vegan and have made it to Firenze, go check Dolce Vegan out. Its got some great options. Prices are also rather fair(less than 10 Euros per dish). Location is walkable from the main train station and I believe they are open pretty late(like 10 or 11pm).

OK I agree, this place is sweet, sweet, sweet. Sweet food, sweet staff, sweet atmosphere, prices.. . a little rough. Every time I come to Dolce Vegan it is packed with clients, so now I tend to come early if possible and if I’m in a rush, I don’t bother at all. I am a fan of their Lasagna and cakes, specially their ‘cheesecakes’ and fruit tarts, which are delicious. When I order here, I tend to stick with their specialty baked items(lasagna) and seitan concoctions. I recently saw a plate with sliced«meats» and salads and it didn’t look like anything that I wanted to try. But boy the things they do well… they do soo good. Did I mention their Lasagna yet ?? :) As far as prices, what can I say? Tofu, seitan and other vegan items are definitely«specialty» products in Italy and they are expensive, thus a restaurant serving these types of products…well I expect it to be on the pricey side. That’s why when I come to DV I expect to eat REALLY well, which means I want high quality, flavorful food. I find it here at Dolce Vegan. So when I pay € 7.50 per a slice of Lasagna I leave satisfied. I can’t afford to eat here all the time, but when I do, I always leave with a big smile. You have to try their desserts !! If you’re flirting with the idea of becoming vegetarian or vegan. .. start here :) very very good desserts :) I can’t wait to try some of their NEW panini’s, they look pretty awesome. Open everyday EXCEPT tuesdays. Hours are 10am-3pm &5pm-11pm
