So good we came back twice! This place is by far the best I’ve had in Italy. The first time we were pleasantly surprised at the amazing service and wide selection their menu has to offer(see Shannon M’s review for more details!). The staff are nothing but helpful and has a family feel to it which makes the experience even more authentic. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Florence!

We stumbled upon this place after shopping around. Best decision we’ve made so far. We got the first and second course, we skipped the apperitivo because you will end up paying for bread anyways(2 euro service/bread fee). It’s a nicer restaurant, but you don’t have to spend a lot if you don’t want to. There are also so many options. The waitress we had was really nice and patient, we took a while to look through the menu because it was so big, but we loved what we got. The asparagus risotto, penne Rosso and lasagne was a great first course. Then we got the grilled salmon, and chicken with mushroom cream sauce. All delicious. We also shared a liter of wine between three people and it ended up being about 2 glasses each. Also, the waitress gave us complimentary limoncello after our meal. It was such a great experience, she was so sweet! All in all the staff was friendly; the restaurant has a fancy flare and everything was great! We are still very full! This restaurant isn’t very reviewed, but don’t let that deter you! Seriously, we highly recommend this! It’s family style, there is a dessert tray that will come around at the end of your meal and they don’t skimp on the helping! We didn’t get dessert, but everyone around us did. Definitely a mistake on our part!

Good solid offerings in this raucous, expansive restaurant. If it seems like people are coming in from every direction, that’s because they are: there are 3 different entrances on 3 sides of the building. We had a simple tomato, mozzarella, basil appetizer, a simple pasta and a simple steak; all were prepared well and were delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. Décor is clean, somewhat modern. I might return here, if the opportunity were to come up later into an an extended trip, but I wouldn’t rush back.

We ate here for one of our group meals that was included in our Rick Steves Best of Italy tour. The meal and service was outstanding. It was one of the more memorable meals we had on the tour. I would highly recommend the restaurant.

Very, very friendly staff and decent food made tonite’s dinner a pleasant experience. Great lamb chop special and misto insalata. The scampi pasta was a bit weird, what with no meat at all left in any of the prawn shells. Maybe it is supposed to be like this? Anyway, it tasted wonderful. Nice half bottles of Vernaccia and Chianti Classico. Major screw-up in logistics got us seated in the pizza part of the restaurant instead of the much nicer section at the rear. Otherwise would have given at least 4 stars.

One of the best Restaurants in Florence. Close to Santa Maria Novella which offers a central location. Food is delicious, fresh and seasoned. Service is great and moderately priced but definitely worth it. Best Ive had so far in 3 days here. Oh, and lets not forget about the dessert cart. We had a sample of each and there was not a single one we didnt like. Would definitely reccomend it! A+++

Quote from Rick Steve’s June Travel News 6 June 2014: All along this Best of Europe tour route, we’ve accomplished exactly that(accommodate bus of 25.) So it was only natural that in Florence we’d dine together at Ristorante Giglio Rosso. The Tuscan cuisine that night was authentic, delicious, and obviously prepared with pride. That leads me to another ingredient for good travel: I always feel a real triumph when we connect Europeans who have a passion for their work and travelers who truly appreciate that passion.

Good prices and great food. The menu was very extensive. I got fettucini con funghi porcini, delicious even though the bread was just così così. A quarter litre of Chianti will only set you back € 3.
