Hostel Archi Rossi

Without a doubt the most random and unique place I have ever spent the night. That’s saying something. But, wow, Hostel Archi Rossi definitely impressed me. My group was fortunate enough to have 6 — so we had a 6 person room all to ourselves that had a shower/​bath ensuite. To get to our room, you had to walk down several halls, out into a courtyard, past a fountain, and to a back building. But, it was quiet, so no complaints.
Let’s talk breakfast — it is as random as others might suggest. But that’s what makes it so endearing! Ice cream, rice, pasta, baked beans, and chocolate cake were just a few of the delicacies on the buffet during our stay. The combination sounds disgusting, especially the morning after a long night of partying, but it was surprisingly good. I’m still alive after eating it and would definitely eat it again.
The location is great, within close proximity to the Santa Maria Novella train station and all tourist attractions are within walking distance as well.
The staff at the front desk wasn’t overly friendly, but they were selling bottles of wine in the evening for, get ready for it, ONE EURO. I think everyone in my group may have had two bottles. At that price, why not?
When in Firenze, I would stay here again. An absolute gem in touristy Florence, Italy.

The breakfast was the highlight of my stay! Lots of selection to choose from, just like a buffet and not to forget their coffee machines make very good coffee. I can understand why it was voted hostel of the year in 2013.
Archi Rossi is located about 5 minutes from Santa Maria Novella train station. Medici chapel and the leather market are just behind the hostel. Very convenient.
The hostel was clean. I was in a room of 5 but there was only one bathroom. There was a hair dryer in the bathroom, that made up for everything! But, no electric plug next to my bed. I had to charge my phone using the plug next to the others. Luggage lockers were provided too.
The hostel does a free daily tour of Florence from 10am to 12noon. It was impossible to see all of Florence in 2 hours! So I did not join their tour. No hot water dispenser as stated on the notice. They do provide luggage storage service. They have a few computers next to the reception for guests to use.
I paid € 59 for my 2 nights stay in Florence. The breakfast buffet was awesome! I had second rounds.

Simply fantastic.
The breakfast was simply incredible. You get a wide range of fruit, pastry, juices, scrambled eggs, etc. Did I mention it’s free?
The location is excellent, too. 5 min from the Firenze SMN train station, 15 – 30 min to everything (walking slow). Galleria Accademia is nearby but check the map because it is easy to miss a turn. Lots of gelato and bites to eat nearby.
Rooms are very clean. Each bed gets a good size closet THAT LOCKS. Bathrooms are attached to each room so you share with your roommates, not the entire floor. That, to me, is a HUGE PLUS.
It may be a bit more expensive than other hostels. But this place is a no brainer. If I came back to Florence, I’m staying here without hesitation.

The hostel here is prettyyyyyy old (but so is everything else Florence pretty much). There were some stains on the beds and pillows, but the linens were predominantly very white and clean. You get 1 sheet to cover the bed, 1 to cover yourself, and a pillow case. The breakfast is the same every day. There’s some eggs stuff, tiramisu, toast, cooked spinach, sliced tomatoes, hotdogs with sauerkraut, cheesy noodles, and so on. I had the 5 people private room. There were 2 bunk beds and a single bed. It was pretty quiet with working AC and a clean bathroom. There’s like no where to put stuff down in the bathroom though for your shower. The prime bonuses of the location are that they have a free walking tour of Florence and they have a wonderful location not too far from the train station and the prominent locations such as Academia, Medici Chapel, and the beautiful Duomo. Side note, there’s a lot of Asians that stay here so if you’re looking for Asian friends, perhaps it’s the place to go :)

Stayed here for 2 nights with 2 other friends. We had a private triple room, 3 single beds, and our own private bathroom. There isn’t that much a view out our window, but it didn’t matter too much. The location is very close to the train station (about a 5 minute walk, even with luggage!), and being in Florence, within a walking distance of many attractions. The room was pretty spacious, and came with 3 private closets for our stuff. The hostel itself seems pretty nice as well. The breakfast served isn’t your typical breakfast, but they do have a variety of items. It wasn’t bad at all. The lobby area sells wine (for 3 euro!), water, and soda. They have an area to store your suitcase, in case you want to keep exploring after checkout. The prices are definitely decent. I highly recommend staying here. Only negatives, the wifi was spotty at times, if too many people were trying to use it. But, there are computers in the lobby to use (in addition to one in your room).

I really like this hostel!
Location: it’s right next to the train station and a short walking distance to the piazzas, the Domo, the leather market, and everything.
Crowd: somehow there were a lot of Asians that booked this hostel. I was in a room of all Asian girls, I’m Asian myself and maybe they wanted to put us all together?
Hostel: the rooms are freaking huge! It’s old though but huge! The place is sooo big. They have courtyards and garden areas, big cafeteria that you can order food. The breakfast is the best breakfast ever for any hostel! I’m not talking about bread, cereal, and a muffin. I’m talking about a selection of breads, sweets, real food (rice Wth seafood, tomato rice, meatballs with sauce, little hot dogs with veggies, eggs, eggs with bacon, a killer drink machine that makes the best cappuccino!) the breakfast was amazing and they did not cheap out. It was buffet style as well.
The bathrooms were plentiful with showers. There’s a 2am curfew and a 11pm quiet time. So if you wanna party go somewhere else, because the receptionist guy will give you crap. And tell you to shut up.
The wifi is everywhere! And it’s pretty good. Hey also have computers you could use as well. And they sell food and water for cheap. They don’t try to over charge. A big water bottle was less then 1 euro! Other places sell that for 3 euros.
Price was really good for hostel, under 30 euros. This was probably the best hostel I stayed at! Totally recommend if you are in Florence!

Archi Rossi is a really great hostel in an excellent location in Firenze. It’s a 5 minute walk to the Duomo and a ton of restaurants and sites. I stayed in a 9 person dorm room (it was listed as 8, but when we got there were were put in a room with one extra person which wasn’t a problem, but it would have been nice to know before we reserved…) and it was quite comfortable. The beds were good, the place felt really safe (2am curfew) and the staff was friendly enough. They also had a full breakfast every day with egg sandwiches, french toast, etc. There was a free walking tour, but the guide wasn’t the best and we left after 20 minutes or so.
My only complaint would be that for a 9 bedroom dorm, there was only bathroom in which the toilet and shower were in the same room. It was inconvenient because 9 people had to shower one after another, which was really loud in the morning.
