After a glass of wine(I never drink) with late lunch, I was pretty much feeling it and wandered in here and bought the first red leather jacket that grabbed me. Obviously, I wasn’t in any business-savvy state, but the owner did the leather test(a lighter to the fabric, if it’s not leather it will burn). I love my leather coat, it smells good and I’ll have it for the rest of my life. I think it’s better to pay more for all souvenirs rather than getting a bunch of tchotchkes. As a matter of fact, don’t even pack a coat, just show up in Italy and you’ll find a better one. I later compared prices all over Florence and the price was good. Compared to here, the price was great. Actually, after looking at all of the leather goods in the area(Firenze has a leather school, so it’s kind of the place to buy leather) I decided: I got a good deal. My jacket was very original and maybe he does design for Armani as he said. But really… who cares about labels when the craftsmanship is so good-isn’t that what a label is supposed to be insuring anyway? Rather than buy purses and coats here I’m just going to wait until my next trip to Italy.

A good friend of mine knew I was going to Florence and she had purchased a leather jacket from A J Leather Factory and she couldn’t stop raving about what a good deal their jackets were. The friend is a really good shopper and I had faith they would have some nice leather jackets. She also referred a few other people to this store and they loved it too. I did check out a few stores near Santa Croce and comparitively the prices were good for the quality of the jackets. They can do the sizing within a half hour too. It is really tricky to find. If you are standing in front of Santa Croce just walk straight through the Piazza Santa Croce, cross B.D. Venci and it will be on Borgo De Greci right before you get to Bentaccordi. I walked around for at least a half hour trying to find it. Finally, I came across a great gelato place and just decided to take a break. Eventually, I just decided I’d just ask another shop owner to help as follows: Mi scusi, dove e AJ Leather Factory? Translation: Excuse me, where is AJ Leather Factory. Not too difficult. I found it shortly thereafter. They have great jackets for good prices. I picked up a brown moto jacket for 180 euros and I could have gotten a refund on the tax with the paperwork I received, but the Leonardo Da Vinci airport was such a mess I didn’t have time to drop it off. Oh well… maybe next time.
