The food we had here was great. We ate lunch here, and I had the green gnocchi. It was great. Other people at my table had two different pastas, the names of which I cannot recall.

We finished up a private tour and our host recommended us the restaurant for dinner; The bistecca fiorentina was amazing and I was impressed with the house wine compared to other places we ate in Firenze

Solid eats not too far from Duomo! Can’t say that service was super excited about us tourists, but they were nice. — Bruschetta«freestyle» is a sample of all 4. 4⁄5 — Homemade pasta with tomato, olives, and almond 5÷5− guys, this is some of the best pasta I’ve had. It sounds strange perhaps, but it’s unbelievably excellent. Try it! — florentine special– 5⁄5 okay… Had no clue what this was on the menu but got it anyway. It’s a bowl of tripe! Flavored wonderfully, but I can’t eat an entire bowl of just tripe. Wifi! Credit card ok!

A good place to get classic Tuscan food; service was good, atmosphere was homey, a pleasant spot, clearly popular with families, locals, tourists alike.

The food and wine were absolutely incredible. The service was below par as our waiter seemed to be upset about something. But nonetheless we didn’t let it ruin our experience. The goat cheese bruschetta was a perfect way to start and homemade Spaghetti and ravioli finished it off. The nozzole wine by the bottle was cheap and surprisingly great!(Chianti Classico)

Overall, I really enjoyed this place. The food was super fresh and extremely flavorful. We enjoyed the mixed brushetta and the pork cheek pasta. I think the highlight of the night though was the beef tartare with truffles. Every single bite had a crunch of sea salt and a piece of truffle, it was truly wonderful. The only complaint I had was that the service was spotty. I feel like because we were there a little early(7PM) they seemed a little off put. We were staying next door at Firenze Number so it was really close and convenient. I would definitely go back!

On my first day exploring Florence, I stumbled upon this little restaurant near the Piazza del Dumo. Their menu is simple and sounded tasty so I came in to give it a try. Right away, the service is pretty friendly and was helpful in answering my questions despite the minor language barrier. I ordered the Hot Macaroni with Pork Cheek, recommended to me. This dish was overall very tasty and gets spicier as you eat! It starts out mild and grows as you eat it, and its cheese and pork definitely have very strong flavor as well. It does get a little heavy and a bit on the greasy side so beware of that. The best part of the whole meal was the dessert! The Panna Cotta was perfection… heavenly plate of creamy deliciousness. Definitely give this dessert a try if you’ve already had a lot of Tiramisu throughout your trip!

As an Italian American who travels from NY to Italy often, it is always important for me to do a lot of research before a meal. After hours of reading sites, blogs, and comments on both here and Tripadvisor, I stumbled upon an interview of this chef and owner talking about the great pride he had in making each dish in the true spirit of Florentine cooking, even if most of his clients were tourists. It was this sincerity, along with a fantastic and authentic menu which made me select this place. As many have already said the staff is very hospitable and alert. They treat all patrons, whether tourist or local, with the same professional and courteous attitude. The food was not only perfectly executed, but flavorful and of the highest quality. We shared an appetizer of mixed salumi, bottle of house Chianti, two amazing pasta dishes, and finally a bistecca Fiorentina that we didn’t have to feel guilty about because it was the perfect sharing portion of 600 grams, as opposed to the over two pounds only offered elsewhere. With two coffees and an excellent homemade tiramisu our bill came to a very reasonable 100 euros considering the quality we were served. In a city where there are many fake«trattorias» ready to serve you mediocre quality food, do yourself a favor and walk a half block more for the real thing. If you happen to see the gnocchi al tartufo on the menu… definitely order them. You’ll be dreaming about them for weeks to come! If you love a great tomato based sauce, the tortelli alla carrettiera is delicious and fragrant. Guaranteed to be one of your best meals in Florence!

We had a leisurely lunch here. The location is convenient to San Lorenzo, but on a quiet alley that avoids the tourist crush plaguing most of Florence. The clientele was largely Italian. In sum, a good spot for a casual and quiet lunch.

This was our best meal in Florence. Must have: grilled pork chop and grilled veal chop with red onion salad. Spaghetti Bolognese and house pasta with tomato sauce were also good. Would definitely recommend.

The only meal in Italy that gave me stomach woes afterwards and it didn’t taste all that good either. I started out with chicken liver pâté on bruschetta, which was ok. The portion was generous, but I’m not used to warm pâté and in the end it was a bit too rich. For entrée I had some sort of homemade spaghetti in cream sauce with ham. When it arrived, the pasta was hidden under such a copious amount of cream sauce, I thought they’d mistakenly brought me a soup instead. The pasta was way undercooked and had none of that delightful texture I love about handmade pasta. The sauce was so thick and rich I lost my appetite after a few bites. Big disappointment!

Our large group of 14 people was able to secure the private alcove on the second floor. The atmosphere was fantastic and having the tv on Italian soccer help make this dinner a fun event between enjoying great tastes of food and cheering on the various teams. Overall, everyone enjoyed the meal as each plate was brimming with lovely flavours, great spices, and perfect char on the steaks. It also helps that they were extremely generous with the black truffles on the gnocchi and beef tartare. We’ve never seen so much truffles on a plate except at 10 times the price at 2+ star Michelin places. Our table ordered the charcuterie platters and assorted crostini to start. The waiter(who is a Justin Timberlake look a like) was quick, cheerful, and though he didn’t speak English perfectly… he was able to translate the menu for us to order amazing food. Primi was composed of homely comfort soups and hearty pastas. The spinach gnocchi with gorgonzola and truffle is a dish that everyone had to order once we stole a piece from a person at our table. Really stands out. The Florentine beef may not be the best in Florence but it was close to it. Massive pieces of beef are presented to us before they were given to the chef to charr to perfection. They are on the rare and mooing ‘doneness’ but we didn’t get the eye roll when our Englishmen asked for well done. The butter chicken Florentine style was truly a decadent dish. We were truly impressed with the service as only one wait staff served us the entire night but he worked his butt off to keep us smiling and laughing along side with him. It helps he’s quite nice to look at.

We happened upon this restaurant because our first restaurant was closed and the second was packed… ok, we’ll keep walking. I had been wanting to try this place, so I was happy to try it… just never like doing that for the first time with guests in town. It turned out pretty great. The guys got meat, I believe the pork and the steak with peppers, they were both very happy. I got a very tasty pasta and someone got the minestrone soup. I would say I will go again, if anything to improve my review(sorry, it’s been a few weeks).

OK… The food was food, but if it rains, stay away. We sat inside and saw a little water on the floor. As the meal progressed, they gave up on the water and let the place flood. By the time we left, at least an inch. Really?

Came here for dinner and ordered: — Burrata with truffles with olive oil — Gnocchi in a spicy sauce with salami, roasted red papers and pecorino romano — Bistecca Fiorentina Burrata was excellent, truffles very subtle flavor with the olive oil on a bed of arugula. The gnocchi was excellent served with spicy salami and pecorino romano. It had a very pungent aroma and strong rich flavors. The Bistecca was good but not as good as Sostanza. The meat was a bit stringy.

Another night, another dinner in lovely Florence. Was pretty empty late on a Sunday night. Freestyle bruschetta– liver, cheese, tomato, white bean Pappardelle with tomato– we ordered because the couple next to us did. How can something so simple be so good? Curly spicy pasta– like a spicy Mac and cheese with bacon. Get this too. Fried chicken and rabbit– a giant platter of fried goodness. Meat, veggies, and even some sage leaves. So hot and fresh with a light thin batter crust. Arugula salad Panna cotta Tiramisu

If you are in Florence stop by this place and you will not be disappointed. The meal was good and the prices were even better. The waitstaff was on the younger side and had no issues with English. Definetlly worth a try.

Just got back from a wonderful dinner at Cipolla Rossa and the flavors are still lingering on my tongue(in a good way). The partner and I had 2 antipasti, 2 pastas, house wine, and a dessert. Food/Beverage Rundown: — Tomato and Basil Bruschetta — A great rendition of a simple classic — Cheese Mousse with Tomatoes — the name is much simpler than the dish would suggest. It’s basically really delicious light fluffy cheese served with diced tomatoes inside a delicate«parimigiana crisp» shell(google it) drizzled with a balsamic reduction. Amazing! — Pasta with Tomato and Parmigiana — Simple Italian food at its best. Wide ribbons of fresh pasta with fresh cooked cherry tomatoes and shavings of parmigiana. — Ravioli with Meat Ragu — The partner had this… and according to him the flavors were spectacular. Spinach and ricotta ravioli with a brown meat sauce. The only complaint of the meal comes here — there were some issues with bone/tendon bits that made their way into the meat sauce which was a bit of a turn-off. Considering the reviews, however, I’d think this was more of a one-off than a recurring issue. — House red wine — Solid, drinkable Italian wine for € 10/litre. I heart Italy. — Tiramisu — Hands down the best tiramisu I’ve ever had…(and I’m kind of a tiramisu connoisseur) For us tourists, they offer an english menu that is translated colorfully. The staff was all smiles and seemed genuinely happy to help out in any way needed. Reservations are generally recommended, though we were able to get a table at 7:30pm on a Friday night(a bit early for local standards).

Some of the best pasta I’ve had while in Italy. The gnocchi was soft and the sauce wonderfully creamy and truffle-y. The spaghettini was the best pasta I’ve had. My bf’s pick was some pasta with cheese and beef cheeks was also good. We also ordered the beef with spicy herbs expecting beef with spicy seasoning. We were wrong and received beef with whole leaf sage and other«spicy» herbs on the side. I didn’t mind and thought it was tasty. However, next time I go I think I will get my fill on their gnocchi and spaghettini.
