The Mercato Centrale is an awesome place to shop for meats, fish, produce(fruit and veg) and more. But Pork’s is there too, and there is something really special! Hashtag Nom(#nom) was made for this place, and it’s a great place to #eatinfirenze. Opening at 11AM or so, Pork’s is in the corner and it’s great for lunch before or after you do your fine fare shopping. Simple food, well presented, it’s the anti-fast food place of Firenze, yet fast. It’s not ūber-cheap, but worth it. Pork’s uses the free WiiFi in the Mercato Centrale and it works well too, though you do have to sign up, like in the rest of Italy. But it’s free and fast.

We came here at around 11 am. Food was fresh and delicious. I had the octopus salad and the tortellini w/cream and prosciutto. My wife had their lasagna which came in first place. Then the octopus salad and then the tortellini. The tortellini wasn’t horrible, it was just beaten out by the others. The lasagna was awesome!!! My wife made me jealous. The people that worked there(maybe family) were very nice and entertained our butchered Italian. Cash only place.

We went to the market in the last hour before they close, and want to grab something quick to eat before exploring in Florence. This place had several tables, so thought will give it a try. It was a mistake They had several items on the menu that we want to order(squid ink pasta, etc) and we asked. When we order, they said they don’t have it for the day. porchetta panini — it was small, cold, and there is only a small small piece of the porchetta skin Shrimp & cheese Gnocchi — this was a big joke. there was less than a cup of Gnocchi, and 2 tiny baby shrimps. each of the shrimps was smaller than my pinky nail! I don’t think they are even shrimp This is a tourist trap restaurant, don’t eat here.
