Fantastic pub, not because of the location, atmosphere or beer but because of Dexter. He’s likely the best bartender I’ve ever encountered in terms of sociability, reliability and generally positive attitude. He’s extremely helpful, quick with drinks and took my friends and I orders all night. I’d go back in a second just to see him, as would all of my friends, he is the man. Whatever this bar does, keep Dexter around.

After being in Italy for some time you start to crave beer. I’m not talking any beer, I’m talking real beer. Yes, that’s right Italy I just put down all your beer! Wandering Florence one day after a long day of site seeing I thought I saw NFL on some tvs… and I stopped for a second to confirm and it was the NFL! I looked around and I was standing in front of Tartan Jock’s. I walked in, sat at the bar and ordered a Guinness. The Guinness was so good after drinking all these Italian beers that tasted horrible. I’d equate my happiness with this Guinness with breaking a dry spell, it was just that damn good after a few weeks of terrible beer. I was in during happy hour(aperitivo) were you get access to a buffet of free appetizers for buying a drink. I didn’t have any food but they looked like they had a large selection of risotto, pasta, veggies and fried bar food. Now the pub itself is ok but the crowd that was there that night and possibly every night was a blast! The bartenders and owners are from North America and there are a lot of ex-pats that come here from the UK and surrounding area. I had a lot of great conversations with everyone here as they all stopped to chat. The local regulars that didn’t speak much English dropped by and made sure to have a conversation with me and bought me a ton of rounds. This is what I love about going to awesome pubs, it’s the people. People aren’t compartmentalized into their own groups. Everyone hangs out and has a good time. I don’t find this at a lot of the pubs I go to in my current home town.
