If there was an option for six stars, I would be all over it. During my 11 day trip to Italy this was my favorite, and best meal I experienced. From the minute you walk in you feel the family vibe in this place. The service was amazing, Ella is a real treat, and the food was OMG status. We started with a vegetable in a fondue sauce that had me drooling and wishing we ordered at least two more servings. We washed the appetizer down with bottle of wine we chose was easily one of the most tasty we had in Italy. For the main courses I went with the lamb dish and my fiancé ordered the beef covered in sauce– we each just stared at each other when we took our first bite. As for dessert we couldn’t decide between three, Ella said she would surprise us and upon her return brought us tiramisu(that she explained was her grandmas recipe) and half of a piece of cheesecake and a part of a serving of a puff pastry with Chantilly cream. I’m 99% sure I will daydream about that Chantilly dessert many many times in my future. Not just amazing food but a really great experience. I highly recommend scouting out this gem!

This was easily one of the best Italian meals I have ever had! This is a family owned restaurant, and the staff was really friendly. It’s a good thing we are just visiting otherwise I would come here all the time! I can’t remember what the appetizer was called but it had vegetables and was in a cheese fondue. For the entrée I had the seafood spaghettini and my husband had the sea bass. Both were amazing! Finally for dessert we shared the chocolate mousse. It was incredible! I would highly recommend this place if you’re ever in the area. Delizioso!

Recommended by our hotel, and we weren’t disappointed! Except now, how to find similar fare back in the US. Acquicotta’s eggplant Parmesan has got to be the best in the world. Ella’s service is delightfully homespun, and being able to watch the kitchen adds to the feeling. The salmon appetizer with a tower of kalmata olive, tomato, and avocado pieces in the center could have been a meal itself. And the deserts are also to die for. I’m going back whenever I’m in Firenze!

Acquacotta is a nice restaurant in the Santa Croce area of Florence. Kind of far from where we were staying but is supposed to be accessible by foot from Ponte Vecchio. Four stars for the excellent service by Ella. She was friendly and extremely nice. Far from what we’ve experienced in Rome and even in Florence. We got two pastas, meat to share and desserts. Frutti de Mare — mixed seafood spaghetti comes with shrimp clams and mussels and is pretty standard Shrimp risotto — pretty plate and a great selection. The risotto was cooked perfectly and the shrimp was fresh and sweet The steak that we got was kind of interesting. We should’ve gotten the hint when we were asked what temperature we wanted. She asked«medium or rare?». I guess medium rare isn’t the norm here? Idk. Temperature of the meat was uneven. It went from rare to medium from one end to the other. We got two desserts. A chocolate cake and some type of frozen fruit cake. The chocolate is rich and decadent while the other I couldn’t care much about. Sorry. I’d recommend Acquacotta for the shrimp risotto and the chocolate cake and maybe the other selections would be better. A definite four stars for Ella.

If you’re staying by the Florence train station, Acquacotta may be a bit of a hike but it’s relatively close to Ponte Vecchio if you plan on visiting there at night. The owner of the place may be the friendliest person in all of Florence. We skipped the appetizers and order one pasta, one seafood risotto and grilled steak. — Spaghetti with mixed seafood was good but once again the noodle was a bit too all dente and undercooked. — The prawn risotto was quite good and had bold seafood flavors in the rice — The steak was cooked from end to end, well done, medium, to medium rare. I wonder if the grill had uneven flames cause it was quite inconsistent. However, still good. — the chocolate cake was very rich and delicious — one of the pictures on Unilocal deceived me. Don’t order based on what people are calling it. I ordered what was suppose to be a creamy pastry and ended up with a half fruit cake and ice cream combo that wasn’t that great. Damn Unilocalers.

Win in food, wine, and hospitality! A family restaurant where you can taste the care and deft hand of the husband-chef, and benefit from the attentiveness and knowledge of wine pairings of the wife in the front of house. Highly recommend the pigeon and, believe it or not, the potatoes(aka French fries seasoned to perfection). I got a little impatient throughout the service waiting on the next course or check, but my husband enjoyed the 3 hour dinner as part of the dining experience.

Exceptional home style Tuscan food and lovely friendly service. Nothing fancy here but the generous use of truffles.

One of our favorite restaurants in Florence. They change the menu based on availability of fresh ingredients. The sommommoli are delicious and their dessert menu is to die for. The set menu for lunch is a great deal.

Came here thanks to a friend’s advice. As a Florentine we know that in the centre there are plenty of little restaurants that are made just for tourists so we tend to avoid these places if we can. Well, Acquacotta was an incredible surprise under this point of view, the food was great, mostly traditional Tuscan dishes. The restaurant is family run since many years, acquacotta is simply perfect(the soup) so are the homemade cakes. A great find, will come back for sure!

This place was just down the block from our hotel(Hotel Arizona — also recommend). It was warm and welcoming. My family enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. The wine was excellent. The waitress was very helpful with the menu. Definitely recommend!

One of our best meals in Florence. Very friendly and helpful staff started the meal by greeting our children. Wine list was very good with an excellent selection of local reds. The main courses were excellent as well. The beef fillet in a chianti wine sauce was cooked medium rare and had a really nice flavor. The pork loin was also a favorite. Everything was made with a lot of care from this family run business.

My boyfriend and I went here not once, but twice during our 3-night stay in Florence last week. I will always remember this place for 1.) the best tiramisu I’ve ever had, 2.) the wonderful friendly service, and 3.) the woman who ran the place can do arithmetic faster than any calculator(she wrote up our bill at our table and added up maybe 10 items in a blink of an eye) — and exclaims: «I am a smart woman!»(YES, YESYOUARE). The prices are very reasonable and the food was BOMB. Make sure to get the baked soup, the Florentine steak, spinach salad with truffles, the pheasant ravioli with truffles, and the TIRAMISUISTODIEFOR!!! Oh and the house red wine was delicious! Highly recommend!

Though we arrived at 10 pm(and the restaurant closed at 10:30), they were kind enough to welcome us. We split the Florentine steak special: 1 kg of meat for the two of us. My husband tends to go for medium rare, and I like medium steak, but this was the best rare steak that either of us has ever had: juicy, tender, and delicious. For dessert, I had something that might have been called black forest cake with cherries(more like cherry mousse in a cake shape), and my husband had the meringue filled with semifreddo — both great. And the family was incredibly nice: the little boy of the owner was precocious, and the owner got us a new bottle of wine because she wasn’t satisfied with the smell of the cork from the first one she opened for us. Great place!

Outstanding meal homemade by hardworking people! The ravioli with spinach was a wonderful start and I love eggplant but it’s hard to find good eggplant Parmesan in LA. This was superb!!! My husband had the tagliatelle w meat sauce and enjoyed every bite but his Sea Bass was light, fresh and delectable! Unbelievable homemade cheesecake topped it all off. Even the Sangiovese by the glass was generous and delicious! A real treat for a good price, about 70 euros.

Genau so stelle ich mir eine Trattoria vor. Super-freundlich und nur frische Produkte; zubereitet nach regionaler Art. Ich kann nur jedem Florenz-Reisenden empfehlen hier zu essen.

We stumbled upon this trattoria while walking the eastern part of Florence. It eventually turned out to be a good choice, and was our last dinner while we were in town. We found the place a few minutes before 7PM, and it was still not open. Peeking in through the windows, we saw the staff still eating their dinner. When 7PM came, the door opened, and we were the first ones there, asking if there were any tables available, given that we had no reservations. Fortunately, they offered us a table. Later on, I saw several other parties being turned away, because there were no more space. I ordered the fish and bread soup with egg yolk, which was a very ingenious way of making soup. I followed it with the eggplant parmesan, and even though I have sampled so many eggplant parmesans during my stay in Tuscany, I never fail to get a good sample. My companion ordered the fresh pasta with ragu, as well as the tuna carpaccio. Finally, we had biscotti with Vinsanto, as well as the tarte ganache, which was heavenly. Oh I wish I lived in Florence, just for the food. This is perhaps one of the best dinners we have had during our trip. Definitely recommended!

The service was nice but slow. It’s too bad that meals never arrived at the same time. The lunch menu is a very good deal, for 12 € 50, you’ll have 2 meals and 1 dessert. The Tuscan soup was interesting, it’s not a soup at all, it’s very thick and the bread salad was very fresh, but what I liked the most was the eggplant and ricotta pasta. Just amazing, very tasty. The trippa alla florentina were a bit too much salty and the fish really bad. It was very smelly as if it was out of date. The zucotto(dessert) was so hard to eat.

The guy who worked at our hotel suggested this place, said its where he goes out to eat. What a dynamite suggestion he gave us. We enjoyed our meals, three of us, not leaving a single morsel on our plates… the appetizers. pumpkin ravioli and pheasant ravioli — both fantastic… my entrée was the wild boar with polenta and mushrooms, divine… its Tuscan home cooking, a small place, husband and wife operation. Sparkly clean place and kitchen. Wine was perfect… a note, its closed on Mondays and air –conditioned in the summer!
