Thank God for Uncle Jimmy’s! It was the only pub we could find in Florence that was showing NFL games — all of the other bars were devoting their screens to soccer. We had a great time here watching the start of the regular football season with a crowd of other American tourists and ex-pats. The place itself is small and not as nicely furnished as The Fiddler’s Elbow, the other Irish pub we visited in Florence. It also has a definite college-crowd atmosphere: beer pong, karaōke nights, bras and panties hanging from the ceiling.(I’m amazed at how many women are apparently willing to donate their underwear for public display. Do you know how much a good bra costs?) But they play great music, carry a good selection of beer, and the staff(who all speak excellent English) are friendly and attentive. They even have a Pay With American Dollars Day every Thursday. A good place for Americans to visit if you’re looking for a little piece of home in Italy.

Not particularly my scene but for college students or those looking for a fun time in Florence this was a cool place. Fairly small but a neat ambience decorated with various undergarments(the providence of which is still unclear to me) and walls upon which you can write with markers. They play good music, mostly American, and the bartenders are friendly and speak English(if anything their English is better than their Italian).
