**100th Review!!** «There’s a port on a western bay, And it serves a hundred ships a day, Lonely sailors pass the time away, And talk about their homes.» This Looking Glass song was the first thing that came to mind when I walked in this little bar. It’s sitting right where the ocean waves crash on the wall. As you make your way down the steps to the shore, the door is just off the stairs. It’s so bright walking around Genoa that when you finally get inside somewhere it takes some time to adjust. Inside, there are no bar stools, just the bar. With hundreds of whiskey options and plenty of wine choices(«she serves them whiskey and wine.») you could spend forever in here! Decorated with trinkets from sailors, Italian décor and even some license plates from all over the world, La Tartana makes for some interesting people walking in and out, which in turn makes for some great stories told and shared. They don’t have a lot of food, mainly just meats and cheeses. We asked for them to make us a plate of whatever they could put together which was prosciutto, spicy salami, ham, goat cheese, mozzarella and brie(OMGITALIANBRIE). Let me tell you something about this salami though, I’ve eaten a lot of salami but this salami was one to write home to mom. Then I thought, why write to her about when I can just bring it home? I asked our bar keep if it would be possible to cut off a chunk of his block of salami, wrapped up real good so I can take home? He said«eehh…16 euro» I said. «let’s call it 10 euro» he said«benne!» and I said«GRAZIBELLO!» If you find yourself in this area of Genoa and you’re walking down the stairs to the gelato shop at the bottom, stop in here first and eat some salami. Piacere, Di Niente, Prego, You’re welcome.
