First of all they dont have English menu, so you have to make your choice while the lady is standing up translating to you– is disturbing– and i was confused while selecting and cannot remember the name of the dishes we had. The waitresses do not speak English, only one person who can help, you have to wait for her., The hot starter, skewered octopus and shrimp grilled served with a tart was delecious– cooked perfectly. I had a pasta– was also perfect. My colleague took a seafood plate steamed with vegetables, it was good also. There is no tiramisu on the menu, was weird not to have in an italian restaurant. More surprising, they have strudel instead-funny!

On the finer end of dining in Lucca — the place to visit for a culinary experience. Coming in for Monday night dinner in the middle of November we were a bit surprised to be asked about having a reservation. But this was for good reason — the place was packed 20 minutes later. Plan was to have a light dinner but it proved hard to resist ordering the mixed fish tartare — five delicious varieties of fish that led to one of those moments where the subtle flavours and mixture of textures carry you to a different world. For a main I had salt coated seabass. This was expertly cut up and served by our waitress. Delicious. Delicious enough to make us order dessert. This was unfortunately a bit of a disappointment — I could see what the chef was trying to achieve with the semifredo but it fell short of being as impressive as the first two courses. Overall worth a visit if you are in Lucca, despite the above average price tag.
