Epically rude and inattentive wait staff. Nino, who seemed to be the head waiter, took some dislike of us(we had the audacity to stop in without making a reservation). He questioned our wine choice, deliberately brought the wrong water, and ‘forgot’ to bring a second bottle of water when we asked. Our meal, when served by someone else, was superb. But no further attention to be had — we sat for 30 minutes with a faint hope we might be offered a coffee, apéritif or dessert, to no avail. We finally got our check; I had to go inside to find someone to take our money, and happened to see Nino hanging out outside the kitchen. I let him know we weren’t happy with the device and walked out. We were a block away when he ran up to us to tell us he was ‘offended’ by my comments about his service. Great food but the exceptionally poor service ruined what should have been a wonderful experience

We came here on a whim while walking around Positano. I was hungry, and they were serving at 4pm. The view was fantastic so we sat on the patio. I ordered the gnocchi with mussels, and clams in an eggplant sauce. The Hubster had the carbonara. Both were delicious. The shellfish was full of flavour. Service was very polite. Like the rest of the town, it was pretty pricey but the servings were large.

Our favorite place in Positano. We came back almost every night for their amazing fresh homemade hand-cut noodles and delectable desserts. And the incredible view and personal service!

We had a local recommend Bar Bruno to us and it was a fantastic recommendation. The views are spectacular is you are seated on the street. My husband and i started with the Pasta Primavera which was the best we had in Italy. The fish was outstanding and the service was great. I would highly recommend Bar Bruno– great food, good service and reasonably priced with great views!

Mediocre food. Nice view, nice people. The pesto pasta was tasty, how ever the Seabass was just okay … The gnocchi was in a really bland red sauce with a lot of cheese. I would not eat there again!

Worst food I’ve had in Italy so far. The view, dining outside and very nice and attentive staff = 4 stars, the food = 0 stars. I first ordered the steak –it was fatty and too tight to even cut — the inside was grey, I sent it back and asked for chicken instead — it tasted off and the texture was rubbery. My husband got the pasta and it was very doughy and over cooked. I’ll note that neither I nor my husband ordered seafood which might have been a better choice and I did notice other dinner enjoyed their food. I’d recommend coming for a glass of wine and enjoying the view — stay far away from the food — your stomach and wallet will thank you.

Great view and good was very fresh. I had the fillet fish with vegetables, which was actually a fish stew. It was very tasty and the sauce was delish when soaked in there fluffy bread. The house red was actually to die for and only 5 euro a glass! You should check this place out!

Best food in Positano? Maybe. Certainly the best value. Amazing homemade pasta. Ask the waiter what he would order and get that. Brilliant views.

Great family style restaurant. The view is spectacular and the food was amazing. We liked it so much that we went back for a second meal(never done that before). The waiters were friendly and delivered food quickly. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for quality with reasonable prices.

Loved our, meal, service and view. Was especially fun to watch the waiters dodge cars on the crazy road. A great band serenaded us too. Surreal experience.

Worst meal I had while in Italy. I was so disappointed after going here as I had heard rave reviews from tourists/locals alike. I’m not sure if I just went on an off night, but honestly, it was unacceptable. For starters, as we did every night at every restaurant– we started with the proscuitto and buffalo mozzarella– the prosciutto was very slimy and reminiscent of when deli meat starts to go bad in your fridge and something was off with the mozzarella(it did not taste right at all– maybe old as well?). For a main, I had the spaghetti amatriciana– the pasta was NOT al dente– it was just plain HARD, nearly impossible to chew– how they don’t know how to boil pasta is beyond me? For the first time in my life, I had to send the plate back. I think they attempted to sauté the dish in order to soften the pasta, but it just didn’t work and I couldn’t eat the pasta. The sauce lacked any depth and was flavorless. My husband had the gnocchi which was actually good– not the best we ever had, but decent. The kitchen did rectify the situation by taking the meal off of our bill which I hadn’t anticipated, however, my overall experience was still sour.

The view is obviously phenomenal. The service is somewhat lackadaisical. The food is not the best you are going to find in Italy, but it is better than nearly any of the Italian food you will find in most other countries(France, US, Singapore, etc.). Three stars for an Italian restaurant in Italy, although it would be four stars for those other countries. The prosciutto e melone was excellent with very thin and soft slices of prosciutto and green honeydew(not with cantaloupe, as it usually is served in Rome). The pasta alla Sorrentina was delicious but a little too rich. I think they put butter in their tomato sauce and may have over-done it because it was too orange. It felt a little like the sauce on an Indian dish. The waiter said they had«strawberry cake» but when we ordered it we got sfoglie, a thin phyllo dough shell filled with crema-type pudding, maybe 1.5 sliced strawberries, and a sea of over-processed, red food-dye strawberry sauce which was clearly from a plastic bottle. The chocolate ice cream was a little better, but again too much sauce from a bottle. The 7 euro mini bottle of prosecco hit the spot.

This is a very special place in Positano. The food is delicious an authentic. Though it is not located on the beach, the views are AMAZING. The tables are set up along the cliff overlooking all of positano, so each table has an unobstructed view of the whole town and the ocean(yachts galore!). This is definitely a place to relax and have a nice long romantic Italian style meal. The service is good but slow, but that adds to the charm of eating in such a small special place. They have some of the best espresso we had in all of Italy, made in a very old espresso machine… authentic! For those who say they prefer Bruno’s to Chez Black, they are both very different experiences, and cannot really be compared. I would suggest doing one night at each, as Chez Black is more of a scene, while Bruno’s is intimate and private.

1 star for the view. The food was disappointing on any scale. First time in my life to spend 100 Euro on dinner and not eat my food. Service sucked, too. I only asked for my bill 5 times, and there was an anxious line waiting. The gnocchi, the view, and the wine were the only redeeming qualities. Ordered food that was never delivered. The rest was tasteless(lobster, house made pasta, bread was stale). Overall, very dissatisfied. This won’t matter though, as there was a line of Americans waiting for tables. Enjoy!

Bruno’s serves up the best spaghetti pomodoro I have ever eaten. Delicious, fresh and perfectly al dente. The caprese was beautiful and the tomatoes were perfect. The mozzarella had the perfect amount of salt. Really delicious. We went back 2 nights later and had the exact same meal. They also have great views of town and the se but really, the food is what we loved about Bruno’s.

Da Bruno serves up incredible views and seafood and is a must visit for lunch in Positano. I ordered a homemade gnocchi dish with seafood and it was one of my favorite dishes from my trip. Situated right in the middle of Via C. Colombo, the views of the ocean and the town just don’t get any better. Highly recommend!

Mixed feelings about Bar Bruno. First, the positives: + great location + al fresco dining + totally fabulous & affordable wine + homemade pasta with frutti di mare = incredible + linguine with clams and parmesan = also incredible Unfortunately my friends got the dishes mentioned above and I ordered the pasta with fish, which came with all of one tiny sliver of fish. Laughable. Also, the shrimp in the shrimp pasta was reported by friend as being very fishy tasting and not deveined. These two dishes were remarkably bad, but if you steer clear of them and focus on the frutti di mare or linguine with clams, you should have a great meal. Another downside — we had the absolute slowest service on earth. I get that it’s a seaside town and we’re on vacation and everything, but my stomach doesn’t understand«Italian time.»

Loved it… Authentic Italian food, rather than the Americanized restaurants down by the beach… Highly recommend… Pastas were fab as was the marinated anchovies, which I ate 3 times here :-)

Use Google map’s street view at this address: 151 Via Cristoforo Colombo, Positano, Campania, Italy The views are fantastic as is the food. The prices were good and the service was great as well. The biggest tip I have for this and all the restaurants in Positano is 1) seafood 2) pasta, and 3) buffalo mozzarella. The seafood and pasta are very fresh and very good but the mozzarella is just unreal. I’ve searched high and low for something comparable in the US but cannot duplicate it.
