I have been staying in this hotel during my visits to Rome for over 10 years now. The location is perfect, and your room will have a view of the Pantheon, which in itself is a giant win. The rooms are reasonably priced(even now that they remodeled the place). Free Wi-Fi. Free breakfast buffet across the street, at a nice café on the square. The rooms are clean, service was excellent. I have stayed in too many hotels in Europe where that was not the case. Grazie!

Hopefully the following tip will save you the ten or fifteen minutes I spent wandering around the –entire– Piazza della Rotonda: If you’re staying at Albergo Abruzzi, don’t bother looking for a sign at ground level. You’re not likely to find it. And you’re –quite– likely to saunter right past the nondescript entrance. Instead, you’ll want to gaze upward, somewhere around the second or third storey. There, you’ll find the name of the hotel in massive letters. If you’re planning to spend more than two days here, spring for the Business Traveller Special package, which’ll run you an additional € 25 for your stay. It’s worth it for the included wi-fi alone(normally € 10 per day), along with a host of various other services(plug adapter loans, concierge services, etc.). My rate also included breakfast at Scusate Il Ritardo, just on the other side of the fountain at Piazza della Rotonda. It’s a bit no-frills, but there’s both hot and cold food and it’s a great way to ensure you’re fuelled for the day. As a bonus, my room faced the Pantheon, affording some awe-inspiring views down into the plaza. A double-edged sword, this means that you’re afforded prime people-watching and often free instrumental music concerts, but you’ll also bear the brunt of street noise and chatty tourists at all hours of the day or night. All told, Albergo Abruzzi was one of the more affordable options recommended to me in the heart of Roma. I’d be absolutely willing to stay there again.
