you know you’re in good hands when you see the place full of Italians! the food is good and made from the super fresh produce and meats sold daily in the square. the service is warm and hospitable– great wifi. they take credit cards and the people watching is fun. what more can you ask for? I’m from NYC– we know good food.

On our first morning we looked for a place for breakfast. We knew that at the campo de fiori it could be a tourist trap but we were hungry. I had the yoghurt(surprisingly non sweetend — which i loved) with cereals and fruit. My husband had the cheese ham toast. We had both orange juice which was freshly made(tasted great), latte macchiato and an espresso. The service was fast and nice. The price was okay(total 20 €) for this location I guess.

We only came here for a drink and the drink earned it the 4 stars. Out of all the places around the square we picked this one because it looked the most popular and it had some curb appeal with the red/white checkered tablecloths and the hanging plants. The waiters were just ok, but not as genuine charming as I already got used to. BUT the drink… We took the Virgin Mule. It’s with stuff I don’t know, but I’ve added a picture of the menu with the contents in Italian. Will Google translate them later to make it at home. I think it’s one of the best cocktails I’ve ever drunk. Although maybe I haven’t been around that much ;) It look likes a Mojito, but with a cucumber sticking out. It’s rly tasty and fresh with a strange effect to your throat. It’s like a burning sensation which you might have with a strong alholic beverage, but… It’s alcohol free. It costed 6 euro. The regular cocktails with alcohol were 8 euro here. The amount in the glass was ok, but it finished quickly. But that’s me ;) Toilets for women were ok, but as lots of places no seats. Mens looked a bit ew, but what’s new.

Food was really good but the wait was forever. Place was packed but because of that the wait to receive the food was very slow. There are definitely better places that have shorter waits but the food was really good so I don’t regret that we came here

After reading reviews(post meal) I decided to write one myself. A perfect example of how my experience was different than most. I’ve been in Rome for 4 days now and this was BYFAR the BEST meal I’ve had since arriving. Tourist trap maybe, but they all are in Rome aren’t they? The service may leave something to desire, but the«Roman pork chop» more than made up for it. Our server, though slow, was more than friendly! Great beer selection, I chose to stay with the Italian stuff. Despite all the other reviews, I would personally recommend this place for a good meal. Mine was!

We were on our way to the airport and beggars can’t be choosers. I desperately needed some protein for breakfast so I had their«sausage, bacon, toast» plate which is made specifically for tourists(p.s. their idea of bacon will make you want to cry). Definitely do not eat here unless you are just dying for some protein on your way to the airport like we were — this is a turn and burn tourist spot in a prime location, definitely is not good food!

Stopped by for a panini on way to coliseum. Absolutely the best pork panini I have ever had. Pork was flavorful, juicy, and salty. Bread was perfectly crunchy with some olive oil for softening the crunchiness. A no nonsense place for great«take out» panini.

Ordered a couple of drinks that came out to sour. Asked to return them for another and they refused. Next we ordered pear-honey — gorgonzola. Could not find honey or the cheese. I needed a steak knife to cut the pear. Meal came. Lasagna was mush. Pork dish I had was not worth writing about. Wish I had not wasted a meal in Italy on this stuff.

Guy outside tries to draw you in by stating he knows three languages. Shows you a cart of mock food and says everything is fresh. Food was crap. Bread so stale, I tapped it on my plate and it chipped my plate. Pigeons everywhere. Avoid like the Black Plague.

I had the misfortune of having the most unpleasant service I’ve ever experienced here. The waitress had a MAJOR attitude problem. She had a sour face from the moment we walked in, was unwilling to answer any questions about the menu, and she even got into a verbal altercation with another worker inside the restaurant while we were eating. You’re better off picking up something to eat from one of the walk-up places.

We had already ordered before I saw the Unilocal reviews, so I was concerned… but the food was actually good. Typical slow Italian service, but friendly staff. Food was good… the Roman pork chop was great, and I enjoyed the eggplant. The test of our party(3 adults) enjoyed their food as well.

Do NOT waste a meal here! We had just arrived and settled into our hotel right around the corner from the Campo di Fiori square. We were tired & starving, and thought the food looked good as we walked by this place, so we plopped down for our first Italian meal. The location is great for people watching, so it may be worth sitting down for a break with a drink. The food, however, was not authentic at all. I’m pretty sure my gnocchi was mixed in with a sauce from a jar — it was very bland and artificial tasting. Our server was very sweet, but also very busy — therefore she was slow to get to us. I wouldn’t mind if the food was good or if she wasn’t busy hugging and kissing one of her co-workers in the middle of the restaurant! Our hotel concierge recommended that we grab a slice of pizza from Forno across the street and take a walk around — I should have listened.

To all Americans, better yet, all humans, DONOTEATHERE. I will outline why: My family and I came on a trip to rome and stayed at hotel campo de fiore for our trip. The plaza with the several restaurants and bars was literally right outside our apartment! How exciting right?! NOT! So the hotel did their fair job of saying«try to avoid eating at the restaurants in the plaza right outside, they are tourist traps!» We thought, hmmm how bad could it be?! Here is how bad… We sat down to eat, and right away the waiter was a huge DB. We ordered our meal with some extra garlic and basil and even offered to pay extra. He goes«you’re taking away from the true italian taste» and we said that we didn’t mind! It’s our meal right? So he never brings us water, is short 2 forks on our table, and gives us attitude when we ask for silverware! Then, at the end, I’m thinking, okay, let me go inside and pay the bill and our night is done with, right. WRONG! I go inside to pay, and am dealing with a lady who claims she is the manager. I kid you not, the waiter comes storming in, and yells«you Americans are a ******** joke, you f***** idiots». At this point I am heated and shaking! The«manager», who normally should be scolding her pathetic wait staff, instead laughs and starts mocking me in italian! When I’m like excuse me?!, she replies«what? Americans are pathetic». And is cracking up. I look at both of them in the eye and say«this is a warning, social media goes a long way in the states, and I will make sure not another American eats here for the sake of my country!» And I walk out. Please, my fellow Americans, do NOT eat here!!!

Sadly we didn’t eat here, but the service was quick, the beer was cold, and the people watching was tip top. And yes, I suppose it’s filled with tourists, but the location is fun for listening to randoms play street music and a view of the piazza. TIp top, nicht schlect. Wir hatten nur Bier, aber es war schoen.

This place was OK. Decent food and service, good location, but ultimately not all that memorable. Come here if you are looking to eat outdoors and have a view of the piazza.

Perhaps they took note of the couple poor reviews? Our experience was great. The service was on par with European dining… not based on American standards! We had wonderful appetizers(pear and artichoke) and enjoyed the steak strips with arugula and balsamic… it was a nice change from pizza and pasta. The draft Peroni’s were cold and espressos were strong! It is definitely a bit on the touristy side… although I would not want to label it as a, «trap.» It was a perfect casual dinner on a pleasant Spring evening.

This place is definitely a tourist trap, I wanted to beat myself up for getting lured in here but we were so tired, so hungry, and so cold. So we just let ourselves be lured into this restaurant :(The food was horrible(menu options were really not that good) the service was also horrible, our table was outdoors and the heating lamps were not turned on for us until we asked numerous times, etc etc the list goes on. I’d suggest to stay away from this restaurant in particular they really do not treat their patrons well. (Maybe its a different story for the natives there, who knows)
