Bar San Calisto

Roma es Roma, ciudad eterna, imperial y encantadora. Y Trastevere es el barrio de moda y con razón. Su encanto h sus precios hacen que te puedas olvidar del servicio. Este bar sita en la piazza de San Calisto, que es homónimo a la dicha, es un pequeño tesoro que se deja descubrir por cada viajero que se siente en su terraza, llena de viajeros y de locales tienes que levantarte e ir a pedir o al camarero o a la barra (no vendrá hasta la mesa), pero es que las vistas y los precios valen mucho la pena. A la hora de pagar dirígete a la mesa situada dentro y déjate sorprender

A glass of wine for 2 euros? You pay for your drink with the cashier at the door, then hand your receipt to the bartender and tell him what you want. So quick and efficient! Everybody hangs out outside in front of the bar. This is where you’ll get a true Italian bar experience!

Difficile à croire qu’au milieu de Trastevere (quartier magnifique mais ô combien touristique), on arrive encore à trouver ce genre de bar typique où les romains se retrouvent tous les jours. Le San Calisto est situé à une minute de la Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere. C’est un lieu où la population de tout âge vient boire une bière (prix à partir de 1 euro) dans une ambiance très décontractée. Après avoir payé sa consommation et l’avoir retiré au bar, tout le monde s’assoit sur la terrasse. Né vous inquiétez pas bien qu’elle soit constamment pleine, vous trouverez toujours un espace où le propriétaire des lieux vous ajoutera une table. Vous aurez également la possibilité de boire votre verre debout devant le bar (oui dans la rue mais face à une magnifique église romaine!) où une foule est toujours rassemblée.
La journée l’endroit est inanimé, pour y retrouver cette ambiance vraiment spéciale, je vous conseille d’y aller aux alentours de 20h. L’intérieur, peu cosy, est toujours vide ce qui fait de cet endroit mythique, un lieu à découvrir seulement pendant les beaux jours. Purtroppo.

I will describe this place as a legendary cheap hipster hang out in Trastevere. I use to work around the corner and would come here for an aperitivo, (spritz or Peroni) before or after work. Good amaros available including Gianamico di Abruzzo, my fav!
While it’s not on the Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere proper, but rather in the smaller Piazza San Calisto, the prices are cheaper because of this. Clientele is usually 20s-​30s. Its a local hangout, and also has a local reputation as being divey. A lot of the local street people (barboni, pankabestia) hang out here.
Good patio, though it’s often a challenge to find a seat. At a busy hour the crowd will often overspill into the street. I don’t know the specifics, but there is a city bylaw whereby at a certain time, glass bottles are not to be consumed outside of the patio area, and so a large bouncer dude will let you know in one way or another.
There is one bathroom for everyone. Good luck with that after a few large Peroni.

La joya de la corona del Trastevere; bar castizo, auténtico y puramente italiano.
Es ideal tanto para desayunar como para cervecear en el tarde-​noche, una cerveza grande cuesta 2‘50 euros y te ponen los vasos que quieras para ir rellenando.
Suelo ajedrezado, paredes y estantes de madera repletos de botellas y posters de La Roma. El ambiente es perfecto, principalmente compuesto de borrachines de barrio y erasmus.

This bar was apparently very popular in the 70’s. I doubt it has changed much. It gets very crowded at night. When we went, there were no seats available, so we bought our «due Ceres» and walked over to the Piazza di Santa Maria to watch the street performers. Good prices and fun vibe.

Many locals drink Spritz and Beer here at night – it gets very crowded so you may have to share a table or stand. You can order a small or large Peroni – just get the large. Go big or go home, yeah?

Come here starting 21 – 06 around 9pm and you will be very suprised. The atmosphere you’ll find and the great drinks you’ll enjoy will never be forgotten.

I use to go to this bar 13 years ago when I lived in Rome. I’m currently in Rome for 2 weeks and my apartment is around the corner from this place. I can say San Calisto has not changed in 13 years. This place is popluar and it was 13 years ago but I’m not sure why because there is no frills about this place. The great thing about San Calisto is the location in Trestevere and the relaxed atmosphere.
This bar is ideal for a beer and a conversation with friends.

Eine wirklich gemütliche Bar in Rom mit klasse Stimmung und interessanten Leuten. Auch als Ausländer sofort wohl gefühlt hier. Die Qualität der Drinks, –insbesondere auch die Grappa– und Weinauswahl war wirklich spitzenmäßig. Gerne wieder

Mensch. nun bin ich schon wieder zwei Monate aus Rom verschwunden und habe es wieder nicht geschafft über meinen und unseren Lieblingsausgehtreff in Trastevere zu schreiben. Eine Sünde eigentlich. Sorry dafür.
Man kann eigentlich zu jeder Tages und fast jeder Nachtzeit die kleine unscheinbare Bar… ist es eine Bar? Ja ist es wohl… mitten in Trastevere besuchen. Sie liegt eigentlich nur zentral an einem Parkplatz und ist nichtssagend — mehr kann man zu der Piazza eigentlich nicht sagen. Aber sie ist halt ein Treffpunkt für Jung und Alt aus der näheren Nachbarschaft. Man trifft halt den Künstler mit den zwei Brillen auf der Nase, davon eine halb zerbrochen, samt seinem Freund, der nur geheimnisvoll in seinen Vollbart hinter vorgehaltener Hand nuschelt. Skurril. Nix Besonderes, aber sehr liebenswürdig, dazu Hunde und spielende Kinder von nebenan.
Abends aber dann brummt hier das Leben. Die Theke, die Terrasse alles voller Menschen. Der Laden geschmissen vom Senior an der Kasse und zwei bis drei flinken Kräften hinterm Tresen. Touristen gesellen sich zu Einheimischen und Studenten; Künstler und die, die es sein wollen kommen von der naheliegenden Piazza und versorgen sich sich mit Nachschub. Mehr geht nicht und besser als in jedem Kino.
Die Preise sind richtig günstig und die Atmosphäre einfach unschlagbar.
Für uns ein Ort an dem wir uns nach dem zweiten Rom Besuch in zwei Jahren wie Zuhause fühlen.
Daher voll Punktzahl + Lieblingsort!
