This is the micro brewery and pizza place you are looking for. Pass up the tacky boring pasta places in Trastevere and stop in to this modern fusion of Roman cuisine.

Good beer selection but the food wasn’t very good. Had the appolla chicken and the fish sandwich. I’d recommend getting the fried rice balls and some beers.

Sit at the bar and bug Francesco if he is working. Very knowledgable and very nice when you don’t know what beer you want since they have so many. We got their chips and rice balls which were good. Pizza only after 7 which we wanted. Francesco is worth coming to see!!! Great place.

I’m from Colorado, so after a week in Italy I was craving a good beer. I loved the wine, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes you just need to sit back and relax with a cold one(other than Birre Moretti or Peroni). So I looked up places to eat in Trastevere and found this place. We got there at about six, which was before the kitchen opened so we ordered some chips with cheese and pepper and they were a fantastic snack, I’d highly recommend them. We also grabbed a few beers, they had a good selection across the board, we just had to Google Translate a few of the descriptions to figure out what we were getting. We settled on some Belgium’s and were happy. Once the kitchen opened we ordered the chick calzone and some wings. The wings were great, had a nice spice to them and were pretty good sized. The calzone was huge, good thing we were splitting it between the two of us. It was also really good(I mean we are in Italy). I’d definitely recommend this place for anyone that wants good food and a quick break from wine.

Bir & Fud seemed like a really great local hang-out spot. We stopped here after spending a couple hours in Ma Che across the street. When you walk in, you’re faced with a long bar and countless taps. It reminded me of places we have at home in Philly. I found it somewhat difficult to order because they have their beers listed in chalk and spread out behind the bar. I looked at the ones closest to me and then double-checked them on Untappd before ordering. For my beer, I had the Vlaam by Birra Mastino. While it wasn’t bad, it was high in acidity, which made it hard to finish such a big glass. I would’ve preferred the option to do a flight here, especially since they offer such a large variety and I’m not the biggest fan of getting drunk. After a bit of time at the bar, my friend and I migrated to a table in the back. It’s a nice area — very open — so you have some space to enjoy yourself. Since we weren’t exceptionally hungry, we ordered a basic pizza and split it. While I didn’t find the pizza to be mesmerizing, it was pretty good. Splitting it was perfect. Service was friendly; their bathroom was clean. Overall a nice place for craft beer hunters.

Good pizza and excellent beer selection for Rome. We were waiting for a table at a nearby pizzeria that is rated #1 and had an hour long wait, so we called Bir & Fud and they had a table for us right away. They have a selection of about 20 pizzas and 4 or 5 daily specials. They include the classics and several unusual combinations. The dough was good — a bit thicker and chewier than typical of Roman pizza. The beer selection is outstanding for Rome.

Pizza is absolutely amazing. I was luck enough that while I was here the soundtrack playing was Ennio Morricone for«The Good, the bad and the ugly»! Can’t beat that. Beer selection is great also. 90% of the beers are Italian.

One star for the wifi & the variety of beers. Waitresses try to seem attentive but they don’t care and their slow. Like forget to put in things or remember to bring out the check or a box or etc the list goes on. Ok the food, I’ve had better from a chain pizza place. Being in Italy, I thought I would be mine blown and especially get«thin crust pizza.» Pretty doughy and crispy right when it comes out. Idk just everything about it was just OK which is sad. Really disappointed but it was the only place that was open at 12 am. Next I’m getting Chinese takeout around the corner from my hotel. At least the ladies thru the window smiled at me lol

30 Biere vom Fass, dazu recht außergewöhnliche Sorten.

No mentía.

I was actually surprised by Bir & Fud. It’s a hipster-type restaurant with a cheeky name in the middle of the oldest part of Rome — the Trastevere. I assume the name is meant to attract tourists, and it definitely worked. Bir & Fud has a pretty large selection of pizzas and beers. I ordered a pizza with potatoes, sausage, and rosemary. The potatoes were super fluffy and buttery; it was like biting into a cloud. It was good, but not great. And, same goes for the beer. If you want a modern, clean restaurant(with clean restrooms) and good food, come to Bir & Fud. If you want authentic Italian dishes, go elsewhere.

Amazing craft beers are most definitely a thing in Italy! I cannot tell you how comforting it was to drink hoppy IPA’s and Ales after drinking so much wine and light lagers throughout my vacation. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who appreciates good beer and needs a break from the«house red». Pizza is delicious too.

After a long and hot 11-miles-on-our-feet first day in Rome, my friend and I were drawn to Bir & Fud by both the strong Unilocal reviews and the mention in The Lonely Planet’s guide to Italy as a must for eating when in the Trastevere area. As you enter there is a beer after beer after beer, all waiting to be poured at the bar, before stool after stool. — Grab a stool, have a beer! This makes for quite a distinctive entrance and is good use of the narrow passageway to the larger dining area. Now, I’m not the biggest fan of beer. — Scrap that, I never drink the stuff! I recently surprised myself by drinking a sweet raspberry beer at home and enjoying it from foamy top to satisfyingly bubbly bottom. On Bir & Fud’s selection I can say just two things: 1) It looked like they had A LOT, and 2) I was pleasantly surprised to see favourites from my homeland of Scotland; Thistly Cross cider and Fyne Ale. We weren’t welcomed as we entered so made our way straight to the seating area at the back. Whilst sitting by the bar would have been cool, we were definitely here for the food most of all. We were so keen for pizza but when we arrived, the kitchen didn’t have the pizza oven on and we were told it would be a half hour wait. We were so very hungry after a busy day so ordered a rice ball to start. The rice ball was delicious; fluffy and cheesy and in a rich tomato sauce. — A little deep-fried wonder! Just after we’d finished, we were told that we could order pizza. We probably wouldn’t have ordered a starter if we knew the pizzas would be ready to order so soon but I’m glad we did. — The rice balls were my favourite part of the meal. Would we like a beer? It really would have been rude not to! My friend is just as much of a beer novice as I am so we left it to the waiter to bring us something on the sweeter side over. We weren’t disappointed; the cool, refreshing beer was one I was happy to sip alongside some pizza. I went for the parmigiano with mozzarella, aubergines and parmesan. It was a-okay; a thicker base and fluffier crust, rather than the crisp and thin traditional Italian style. Still, a tasty first dinner in Rome nonetheless. I did feel like the service wasn’t too good and that staff often seemed more interested in each other than the customers. We were given neither a particularly warm welcome or goodbye which was a little disappointing. Whilst the Bir & Fud experience was a pleasant one, it didn’t quite live up to what I’d anticipated from both the Lonely Planet recommendation and positive Unilocal reviews. Although, I would most definitely suggest paying a visit if you’re a beer lover; Bir & Fud may be just what you’re after!

This place is in the trendy Trastevere neighborhood and can get really busy later in the evening. So come early or make a reservation! We came for an early dinner when the place was largely empty. We were seated in the back room, which looked like a sunroom with plants outside. Cool vibe! Beer is around 6 euro/glass. A bit pricey considering the beer came in the size of a small wine glass, and alcohol was generally very cheap in Roma. But you will probably end up getting 2+ beers as the craft beer was really good and you may want to try a couple! Our waitress was friendly and recommended two sweeter Belgian beers for us. We loved them! We got a Napoli pizza with tomatoes and anchovies. The anchovies were intensely salty, as I should have expected. The pizza was fresh and filling, like all good pizzas we had in Italy. Overall, it was a nice, relaxing place. Worth the hype.

GUYS, THOSEPEOPLEDONOTDESERVEYOURMONEY. Now that capslock has catch your eye(at least that’s what I hope for you), here is the detail: * The good: very large selection of beers, 30+ beers on tap, at average price(~€ 6 a pint). Oh, and they have free wifi. * The bad: absolutely no advice to help you choose among all those beers, some of them with exotic names that even the Internet doesn’t know. More globally, no service whatsoever, except the zealous cashier. * The ugly: Worst pizza we had in Italy(€ 11 – 12). Ingredients were obviously super cheap(disgusting«prosciutto», and everything was super salty), violently scattered on the pizza(do not expect to share into 2 — impossible to make 2 halves containing at least one bit of all the ingredients), and we only got pork fat on one of our pizzas while ordering bacon. So if you are already there, just do not order food. Take a deep breath, finish your beer, and leave.

To this day, after 650+ craft beer focused places reviewed, Bir&Fud sits at my #2 spot of all-time world craft beer venues. It is strangely similar to my local haunt in Washinton DC, Pizzeria Paradiso in Washington DC, only their version puts ours to shame. The prices are always 5 Euro for drafts, which rotate very quickly. The beer pours are always stellar. I think one out of fifteen beers I tried there did not have an absolutely perfect appearance. These bartenders are trained so well to pour the beers. Bartenders were also very knowledgeable about the beers: what style they fall under, what notes to expect. Their recommendations were all spot on. Many flat out told me, «This beer sucks. Here, try this one instead.» Bir&Fud shares a vintage bottle list cellar with Ma Che Siete, which is one of the most impressive in the world. Food herewas fabulous: very well prepared, well presented, quick, delicious. Atmosphere was crowded, loud, fun, beer oriented, group oriented. Why can’t every place be like Bir&Fud.

Somehow I got the impression that Bir & Fud had a massive selection of beer. Thats actually not the case. I live in Copenhagen, and Danes are known for producing and drinking quite a lot of beer. We have every size of brewery from micro breweries to Carlsberg… so we are used to selecting from long lists if we go to beer bars. Its no secret that Italy is more of a wine country, so maybe its weird to go for a beer in Rome. But we heard good things about this place and the selection here — so we had to check it out! We arrived at 6 pm for beer and early dinner. Except that when we tried to order pizza they told us that this was not available until later. Fair enough — we all had a burger instead. And while eating our quite average(borderline boring) burgers the staff had their dinner by the table next to ours. They all had pizza… that felt a bit weird. So: The oven was on, the dough was ready, pizza was being made — but no-no — no way we could order the damn thing! Thats just poor judgement by Bir & Fud in my book. But lets go back to the beer. Did we find our new favourite beers? Maybe not. But we tried a couple that were really nice. What I dont understand is why they didn’t offer us tastings of the ones we asked about. Maybe its just not customary to taste before you buy here, but other places in Rome we have been asked if we wanted to taste before buying, especially when asking for description of the taste. But not here. So we made our decision based on the quite inadequate description from the waitress. Unfortunately one of the beers was sent back cause none of us liked it. Thats a shame — wasting both money and beer. Looking at the bill afterwards we realized that we even paid for 1 more beer than we ordered(and of course for the one we didn’t like). Could be a honest mistake, but it always makes you wonder right… All in all… I’m not impressed.

Who would have thought that I came to Italy and Drank more beer than wine? The craft beer movement in Italy is most evident at Bir & Fud. After enjoying a Pizza around the corner at Dar Poeta we came here to sample their beer. The selection is vast and they have 4 – 5 Cask Ales as well. Beer here is 5 euro a glass. I tried the Cask Ale and then had a Belgium both excellent. We returned the following day and had the burger, another first for me in Italy. It was delicious. Bir & Fud is beautifully decorated inside, has an attractive bar area and outdoor seating as well. We opted to sit at the bar both times because I wanted to be as close to the beer as possible…

We loved the place since peeking in at it during closed hours. We couldnt wait to go back at dinnertime. This place is just so cool. Not what we expected to find in Rome!!! But so pleasantly surprised to have discovered it. Great selection of local/localish beers we enjoyed sampling :) plus some good pizza at this joint. Nice find!

Very cool spot, I highly recommend a visit if you are a tourist, exchange student, expat or just have not gotten a chance to get exposure to a lot of Italian and European craft beer. I like to think that living in Marin county and the bay area, I’m a bit spoiled with many many great microbrew/craft beer options. Some of the biggest names on the west coasts have tasting rooms, or physical locations very near where I live. However, we have had very little exposure to European and Italian makers in the same vein. Enter establishments like Bir & Fud to save the day. Even if you are not familiar with all the makes and names of the beer on tap, the knowledgeable bartenders will help you out with tastings and advice. These days, tourism for me basically equates to walking around all day looking at stuff. It’s a given that my feet and legs feel like they are about to fall off at the end of such activities. So it is quite the reprieve to sit at the bar like Bir & Fud and knock back a couple delicious brews before calling it a day. Go here and try a beer you haven’t had before. You can thank me later.
