If you are staying in the Trastevere area, make sure you wander the streets to find their cookies! Traditional, family owned, charge by weigh type cookie place.
Go at the beginning of your trip because you will want to go back and take some home on your last day!

There are fewer more enjoyable things than popping into a bakery while wandering around Rome and getting some delicious cookies to eat. Delicious!

Amazing cookies. Went there on our recent trip to Rome and got a bag of goodies thinking it might be enough to last us until we got to Naples. The bag was empty before we even got to the train station.
We had a variety bag with a several different kinds of cookies, and they were all wonderful. The lemon ones were my favorite though — the perfect combination of crunchy and tart!
It’s a family-​owned place that has been in business for generations. Inexpensive (they charge by the weight of the bag of cookies) but they don’t accept cards. Do yourself a favor and buy at least 10 euro worth; you won’t regret it!

My husband went to Rome last week for a business trip and went out his way to get me a box of various baked goods from Innocenti. I’m writing this review while I sit on my couch in SF and eat cookies from Innocenti. They are literally the best cookies I’ve ever had in my entire life!
If you are in Rome and are not in the area… take a taxi and get in the area because you have to try these cookies!!!

This is what an Italian cookie shop should be. Fantastic selection. Seasonal favorites. For example I was here for Carnevale. The season is known for its frappé. It’s basically fried pastry crispy like a chip with sugar. I had a few of these since I was here for the season but this was by far the best. The rest of the cookies are amazing.
The other thing I really like is that it’s a very old school inside. Don’t expect fancy, you will carry it away, but you will be back for more.

MUST try the lemon cookies! Visited this wonderful bakery on our Eating Italy twilight Trastevere tour. Been dreaming of the lemon cookies ever since. Sampled 3 cookies on our tour and all were excellent but ahhhhhh the lemon…
BTW, someone else came in and bought a cake while we were there about 7:30 pm on a Thursday. Really wish they shipped…

Read reviews on the internet. Loved the idea that they had been in business for generations. It was hard to find. It was not on a main street and no big signs. If it wasn’t for all the business rating stickers on the windows we would have missed it. It was definitely the neighborhood bakery with many locals— very small but quaint.
We were hoping it was a full fledge bakery with cakes, pies, cookies, pastries, donuts, and breads. Perhaps, it was because we got there too late in the day. Small selection of pies, no cakes, but a vast array of cookies. We got some cookies, didn’t want to walk away empty handed without at least trying. One bite and we wish we got more — -mini heart cookies with chocolate in the middle, meringues, square sugar biscuit cookies, mini square chocolate chip cookies, and an elephant ear pastry. We could have ate these all day with cappuccinos.
Wish they had tables outside and served caffe.
This is on our must visit again before head back to the states. We might have to take some back home.

Family-​run artisanal businesses like this are one of my favorite things about Rome! This charming shop is on a quiet street in Trastevere and has a variety of delicious small cookies, all made on site in a vintage oven with natural ingredients and care. The owner was so kind and the cookies were yummy! Grazie!

Very cute, quaint bakery! We stumbled upon this bakery on our way to find dinner. This place is a bit hidden, but if you’re near Da Enzo al 29, you’re literally a 3 minute walk from this bakery!
The lady behind the counter informed us Biscottificio Innocenti has been with the family for over one century!
You can’t really go wrong with any of the baked goods! My absolute favorite was the almond biscuit.

Everything about this place is magical. If I could somehow transport one thing in Rome to my hometown, this would be it. The family is so kind and the cookies are the best I’ve ever had.

Lors de mon périple en solo à Rome, j’avais repéré une adresse dans un de mes guides: «Innocenti» aka «la pâtisserie sans nom». De quoi aiguiser la curiosité de n’importe qui non?
Située dans le vieux quartier de Trastevere, effectivement, faut la connaitre pour la trouver. Pas d’enseigne, juste une vieille affiche à l’intérieur (Bön, moi, j’avais l’adresse, mais ça m’a pas empêché de faire la rue 5 fois en large et en travers, pour la repérer!).
Pâtisserie/​biscuiterie à l’ancienne et artisanale, et évidée du moindre touriste (y’a que moi pour vouloir absolument tester une pâtisserie à Rome). A l’intérieur, une jeune femme et sa poussette, faisant la conversation avec la vendeuse. Puis, deux anciennes du quartier viennent se joindre à elles, parlant du beau temps, de tout de rien. C’est exactement comme ça que je l’avais imaginé, c’est étonnant. Un climat authentique, des gâteaux à foison, des murs habillés de photos rétros, entremêlées avec de vieux articles de journaux.
Quand arrive mon tour, les mots prennent une tournure anglophone, pour être un minimum sur la même longueur d’ondes ;) Perdue devant tout ces étalages, je me sens bête, parce que je sais même pas quoi choisir, et du coup, je lui demande une spécialité. Je repartirais avec une tarte à la ricotta et au chocolat, puis quelques biscuits aussi. (Tout était excellent).
A la fin, je demande si je peux prendre des photos pour mon carnet de voyage, et elle a accepté avec plaisir. Je profite de la brèche, pour la solliciter une dernière fois. Il est 14h30, j’ai extrêmement faim (bizarrement!), et je voudrais découvrir un lieu, où l’on mange bien, pas trop cher et pas trop touristique non plus. Le patron se joint à la conversation pour m’aider, et il me note une adresse sur un papier, en me glissant à l’oreille, que si c’est trop tard, que j’ai qu’à dire que je viens de leur part.
Un très agréable souvenir de ce périple, où j’ai pu discuter échanger, noter de nouvelle adresse, avoir un bon gouter pour le tard de l’après midi. Des gens très sympathiques et ouverts!

This is a small family-​run establishment in Trastevere. Finding it is half the fun. They have a great assortment of cookies made on the premises. We were lucky enough to get some brutti ma buoni (literally, ugly but good) cookies that were still warm out of the oven. Whoosh! Bag empty. That experience alone was worth five stars, but the other cookies we got (amaretto, meringue, etc) were also very tasty.

It literally took me an my sister half a day to find our way through the convoluted streets of residential Rome to locate this little bakery. We had read about it in Let’s Go and decided it would be worth our while with it’s quality Italian baked goods at low prices. Biscottificio Innocenti definitely delivered and we bought a delicious bag full of treats for a very good price. Maybe if we had a better map it would not have taken us to long to find.
