Delicious food at a great price. I had just finished a tour and was looking to have dinner before taking a taxi back to my hotel. This place caught my eye because on special for 10 euros you got a glass of house wine, a meal and dessert — all of which was fabulous. One of the best meals I had during my week in Italy. Plus the outdoor seating was adorable! I ended up staying for a second glass of wine and they even called a cab for me to take back to my hotel. Highly recommend this place!

Going off Unilocal reviews we went directly to Borgo Antico from St. Peter’s. We were starving and the menu spoke to me with lots of delicious choices. Honestly, this menu excited me more than other menus in Roma. Not just two choices of pasta with different sauces but lots of homemade pasta choices to choose from. We walked past many outdoor cafés and restaurants. It’s a shame they don’t do outdoor seating but honestly the inside is so pretty you don’t need to be outdoors and you can hear the sound of the street so it’s perfect. The(I believe) owner greets us at the door. There is only one couple inside. The place is small but I guess the beautiful weather we lucked in on has most people eating outside. He is genuinely pleased to see us. He speaks his broken English and I instantly want to adopt him and take him home. Sorry… Back to the food. Our appetizer was a beef with arugala, oranges and parmigiano! Holy connoli it was soooo delicious. Ok ok… For my main meal I had cannalonni with spinach, tomato and buffalo mozzerella and it was amazing! Best meal in rome! Hands down it was here! My husband had the lasagne bc I told him A Unilocal reviewer said it made her cry and damn … He loved it too. I don’t wanna put anyone down in anyway but we are New Yorkers from the bronx. We love Italian food. We consider ourselves pretty good judges in Italian food. This is our third day in rome and we had many personal recommendations and this is by far our favorite meal. Perfecto!!! Bravissimo !!

What a find for our last meal in Roma! We were walking around in the neighborhood looking for a farewell experience; we were not disappointed. The owner is extremely friendly and a gracious host. While we had challenges ordering, because we don’t speak italian, we were able to point and explain what we wanted. We had mix up in the type of lasagne we ordered and the owner happily replaced it with what we thought we ordered. The lasagne with artichokes was incredible: don’t miss it. Vitella al limone was good, even better with bread for soaking up the sauce. The beef stew had excellent flavor, but be prepared that it is ox tail(part of why it tasted so good). The chocolate soufflé was superb for dessert. We were fortunate to get a table as the restaurant was closing for August holiday the following day. Usually there is a 4 – 6 week reservation waiting list. We were told that many important business people, vatican people, and celebrities have been patrons. When you go, keep an eye out for extremely polite and friendly older gentlemen who eats there almost everyday.

We loved it here so much we went here twice during our four days in Rome! It’s a quiet, intimate place perfect for a meal before or after a visit to St. Peter’s. Everything we had was delicious and reasonably priced. I’d recommend the lasagna in particular — after just one bite, I was embarrassingly choked up & teary-eyed by how good it was.(And yes, my boyfriend took pictures of his crazy girlfriend crying over the lasagna, and yes, he shows them to anyone who asks how our trip was.) The owner of the restaurant served us himself, and even recognized us on the street the next day. He only spoke a few words of English, but made us feel unbelievably welcome. If you’re looking for a neighborhood gem near Vatican City, you can’t go wrong with this place!
