Highly overpriced. The waiters are condescending. The owner/manager is a douchebag. He had a smirk on his face and you can tell it is so fake !! He makes fun of people behind the scenes. let’s just put it that way ;) Service wise we ordered a very expensive bottle of proseco but The waiter had no understanding of coming around and pouring our drinks or refilling our glasses. At the end we got the bill and the guy says«service is not included» meaning he wants a tip but the way he asked was very indirect and sneaky. In Italy there’s no real grasp or concept of tip and basically they felt because we are«westerners» they can get more money from us! Don’t come here if you are a tourist. they are going to take advantage!

I stopped at Caffe Domiziano for lunch as I was wandering around the Piazza Navona and Campo dei Fiore, and the food was as good as the view. I had a margherita pizza and then ended with tiramisu, which was amazing. The service was a little slow, but I wasn’t in any hurry, especially with the views and people-watching. It was great and I would definitely go back!

With the plethora of restaurants in Piazza Navona offering«Free Wifi», Caffe Domiziano was refreshingly, one of the only ones advertising ONLY their food. So we took a front row, al fresco seat, in front of the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi(Fountain of the Four Rivers). The people. The fountain. The music. Even the camera-crazy tourists, were amazing! We ordered… –Soutè di cozze which is Sautéd mussels for our antipasti. Garlic, tomatoes, mussels, topped with parsley. All fresh ingredients. Soooo good! –Napoli which is a Tomato, mozzarella, anchovies and basil pizza. Again, the ingredients were fresh and the crust was thin and crunchy like a cracker. Good, but I’ve had better pizza in NYC. Overall it was a great place to grab lunch and people watch, considering that we only spent € 60 along with a couple glasses of wine and tip.

We stopped for pizza, beer, and Campari. The wait staff was 5 stars but the food was 2.5 stars. Incredible scenery in the piazza pushed the rating to 3 stars. I can still smell the street vendors and their delectable roasted chestnuts!

When you are visiting Piazza Navano you have to stop by Caffé Domiziano. Sitting outside on a warm day in Roma, you can hear the beautiful music from the Piazza and enjoy a nice Spaghetti or Pizza with Vino!

Best lasagna at Piazza Navona historical place, lunch in front of the Bernini fountain.

I’m really torn here. The café is in a beautiful spot — opening directly onto Piazza Navona in all it’s tourist filled glory. Tables are picture perfect out front, night or day. We went into it knowing the food was not going to be cheap, but we wanted a pretty dinner on the square once during our visit. And the food was simply disappointing. Probably the worst meal out we had all week we were in Rome. Pastas were okay, but not brilliant. My arrabiata was wholly overshadowed by the one I had the previous night at the Old Bear. The view was wonderful, but we couldn’t shake the feeling we were paying for it, and the food was an afterthought. If you are looking for a beautiful view, the square can’t be beat. But I’d go with one of the other cafes nearby.

The tourist trendy spots are places that I typically love to shy away from; however, after tromping through Rome, I was hungry, and really wanted to try a Roma Pizza, even though pizza was originally made in Naples, and without the discovery of the tomato in Mexico, I guess the pizza wouldn’t exist. The cliental was sparse at Domiziano and the service was equally lethargic, but they were friendly. We ordered the fried zucchini blossoms and the Pizza with sausage and basil and two beers. There was nothing awful about these dishes, but nothing spectacular either. The only thing that we did find disappointing was as the waiter passed by before he even placed check on the table, he stated«Tip is not included», that’s kinda like saying«American Pig». I’m sure after you leave the tourist area of Rome you find excellent restaurants, but to shell out 60 Euro for that, it was just ok, I’ve had better pizza at lesser locations.

This pizzaria is close to the piazza Navona and it looked to be a popular spot for lunch. We ordered the Ortolana Vegetarian pizza and the tomato bruschetta. The bruschetta was well seasoned with olive oil and fresh tomato pieces with a side of dandelion greens. It was light and delicious. The pizza had zucchini, eggplant, mushrooms and mozzarella. The crust is thin and so is the sauce. It’s okay, I think I prefer the bruschetta more than the pizza… sigh. Service is brisk but spotty because I had to remind them I ordered a drink that hadn’t come. Otherwise a nice place to rest for a bit until the next venture.

I’ve spent time time in Rome before, but for our honeymoon, my husband and I went on a «greatest hits» tour of the Mediterranean to get his feet wet. We only had one day in Rome, which nearly broke my heart, since it’s one of my favorite places on Earth. We were supposed to head to one of my favorite little lunch spots near Vatican City, but by noon, we were tired and famished, and there’s always great food in Piazza Navona. I about fell into my seat at Caffe Domiziano and ordered two iced teas and some pastas. I know it was lunch time, but really — are you going to come to Italy and NOT eat ten pounds of pasta? My arrabiata was so amazing that I almost wanted to order another serving. I’m completely not kidding. My husband was also crazy about his carbonara, and we even got to enjoy the beautiful October weather while listening to a guitarist strum in the Piazza. The staff was lovely and though they didn’t speak English, we all did just fine with my limited Italian.
