Two words: HIDDENGEM!!! After our second meal at this low key restaurant we told the chef she was the best cook in Italy, and it was true! After traveling 6 different cities in the country over 10 days we were still salivating over her Zucchini with Beef in a honey glaze and the Cacao y Pepe, which is the signature dish of Roma. Our server Alex was fantastic and served us an excellent meal even though we came late in the evening near closing time. This will be the first restaurant we return to when we visit Rome next, hopefully sooner rather than later! It is located in beautiful, quaint Trastevere. If you don’t go you are missing out!

On my first visit to Roma 3 years ago I stayed in a place next door to this little gem so I slinked over for a bite after a long flight in. I was delighted at how kind and friendly their staff was and I ended up getting what later became my favorite dish, cacio e pepe! It was so delicious and I topped it off with espresso and tiramisu all for under 9 euros. I ended up coming here all the time when I visited Trastevere, although their business hours and when their kitchen is ACTUALLY open can be a bit wonky. I found myself disappointed sometimes when I came over and they would be closed or not serving food yet. But I love this place! They got to know me so well when I was living in Trastevere that on my last night before I moved back to the states they gave me my dinner for free, how sweet of them!
