I am an American traveling in Europe for the summer(we’re on month #2) and have had experience in a few Italian pharmacies. Until today, each experience was positive and the pharmacists very nice, helpful, knowledgeable, and patient. Today was a very different experience! This pharmacist thinks VERY highly of himself and doesn’t like Americans at ALL. He made it clear, saying«You Americans…[insert derogatory comment here]»(in perfect English). He refused to help me or my husband with the smallest thing(my husband was looking for disinfecting wipes for work – he needed a box of them. This pharmacist just tossed his head, saying he was a «chemist» and simply didn’t want to be bothered with us. I have a cold and know what I need, but he refused to help me even to find an OTC antihistamine. Until now, I have been an avid supporter of Italy’s medical system, but today left me wishing for home, with pharmacists who actually care for people. I know he isn’t the norm, but want to warn others(especially Americans) to stay away and find another pharmacy. I have found that small town pharmacies are much nicer to deal with. My favorite was one in Anzio.
