Found reviews on this that were great, but was disappointed by the experience. It’s a really small hole in the wall(totally ok) but we didn’t understand the menu and having had a porchetta sandwich elsewhere — weren’t wowed. The sandwiches aren’t hot /warm, bread isn’t soft(actually it was tough to eat and I had to take off the top slice in order to bite through it) and it was very literally slices of meat in between a baguette. The end.

Our very first stop in Rome! The pork had the most incredible flavor. And for only 3 €

I’m from Philadelphia and despite what you may hear, philly is more famous for pork sandwiches then cheese steaks. This is as good or better. Simply perfect. It’s like I died and went to heaven. Or south philly.

I was told that I *had* to come here. I was in the neighborhood and my time in Rome was winding up. I’d had some incredible porchetta in Florence but I hadn’t had any in Rome. I was told I *had* to correct this. So, I broke up my Colosseum/Roman Forum day to make time to come to Er Buchetto and see what was up. Spoiler: you don’t *have* to come here. The meat is good enough but I wouldn’t re-arrange your day for it. I enjoyed my sandwich in Florence much more. This shop is small — even by European standards. Getting in and grabbing a table/service is ruthless. You have to go in with full confidence and no regard for those around you. It’s like jumping in to a really intense double dutch session. I was cut in line twice so I just decided to be extra aggressive and take a seat. I hate being that way and the stress of the situation, undoubtedly, colored my reaction/experience. There’s not much to it: communal(sort of) seating, porchetta sandwiches and wine. I sat, pantomimed what I wanted(a sandwich and some vino), watched the owner slice some meat of the spit, put it between bread and give it to me. His son(?) poured some tap wine and I went to town. The sandwich was a bit dry but it still had a decent taste. It was also much larger than I expected. In fact, my sandwich and wine ran me 4.5 euros. For the area, that was a steal. Perhaps had I stumbled in to the shop without any knowledge of it or expectation for what was to come, I would have enjoyed it more. Perhaps if I didn’t have to push and shove for a seat, I would have been in a better mood. Alas, neither happened and I had the experience I had. YMMV but I don’t think it will. It’s good but you won’t slap your mama for it. For the effort involved, though, you might want to slap yourself.

Slightly greasy, herbed, tender, crispy on the outside porchetta heaped onto a roll for only a couple of euros. Simple, delicious, cheap. Being just down a side street from Roma Termini, this place is often my first stop in Rome, usually before I’ve found my hotel. Highly recommended.

Stopped here for lunch before heading to termini train station. Very short walk from there., quite convenient. It’s small so we couldn’t sit with out luggage. Two porchetta panini and two waters for only 8 euro! The pork was so tasty and the bread though hard on the exterior was so soft and yummy on the inside. This is local romana good eats

Sandwich barely contained any pork. Bread was stale and cut up my mouth, owner was extremely rude. Don’t make a special trip out here to get porchetta, look elsewhere.

What a genuine charming experience! This place is so tiny, and only has 3 or 4 tables. There was one guy working inside, very friendly but speaking only in Italian, who took our order then made it in front of us just a few feet away. For only € 3 I figured I had to try this place because it was right near where I was staying and it got such good reviews. It was well worth the price! The panini sandwich was simple with only one main ingredient… The porchetta was delicious and really worth trying, although the bread was a bit tough and chewy.

Rome is the place to get Porchetta, so we searched around for place known for their Porchetta, and found this place. It was about 3 Euros for one sandwich, which is a steal. The meat was really flavorful and I loved the crispy, crunchy pork skin. However the bread was really dry and hard(guessing it’s not so fresh?). Great place to stop if you near Termini station.

This place is literally a hole-in-the-wall…family-owned business since 1890. Porchetta was absolutely exquisite! We had the pannini with porchetta and a plate of fresh pommodoro with olive oil drizzle. So happy to have found this place!

Really good porchetta. The sandwich, like lots of Italian food, is super simple with minimal ingredients but is super tasty. Bread is a little dry but the perfect taste of the pork more than makes up for it. Pork is is slow roasted and cut off a huge shank. Delicious and only 3 euro. Worth a try of you’re in the area

Porchetta was the bomb… bread was a little hard. Aged cheese is another must try with your prochetta. Owner is very nice and proud of his food. Takes his time in preparing my meal.

This place is amazing!!! If you’re in rome this place should be on your list of stops. I’ve been here for a week and have eaten here for the last 3 days and it still tastes as delicious as the first time I stopped by. Would definitely recommend!!!

OMGTHEPORCHETTATHEPORCHETTATHEPORCHETTA. We got it on the buns because we wanted some carbs, and sure, the bread wasn’t that fresh, but the porchetta made up for it. Perfectly seasoned, pork skin perfectly crisped, and with just the right amount of fat.

Very tiny place and almost zero English. Porchetta was good and I recommend skipping the bun as they were just sitting out and not so fresh. Not so friendly for English speaking tourists however options seemed limited for other places offering Porchetta.

The number one thing that I was obsessed with in Italy with their pork: porchetta. I searched high and low for the place that was known for their porchetta and I finally found it here! This place is a tiny little shop that is known for their porchetta and you be amazed at the big piece of pork when you first walk in. The porchetta sandwich itself is a little dry because it literally is just slices of the porchetta and the bread itself but the meat is so good that I didn’t mind it at all! As a matter of fact, it was so delicious that my boyfriend and I ordered two more to have for dinner. I usually never eat at the same place twice on vacation because I like to try different places but man, the porchetta was just too good to not! The price was very fair too for the sandwich and the wine. Sadly I don’t remember how much we paid but I remember it being very cheap and reasonable! The owner was very nice and friendly too. This is one of the places in Rome that I will definitely go back to if I visit again! It is definitely a must try!

I’m in love. With Alessandro’s porchetta. He’s building on the past 4 generations of pork perfection. If in Roma and you appreciate pork(and by appreciate I mean you love and would eat no other meat for the rest of your life) you must eat at ER Buchetto. It’s simple, three tables, maybe 100 s.f. and a pig. So go there for amazing pork(make it a sandwich if you want, I’d go with the plate), get a smooth half liter of red red wine(from the tap, perfect temp) and for 6⁄7 € you won’t get just an amazing slice of pork but experience a slice of time uninterrupted. If you go, per favore(please) be a good tourist, gratzie(thank you).

This is the little restaurant that could. Owner Alessandro is your chef, waiter and entertainer. He continues the same family tradition for 5 generations, specializing in one thing and one thing only: PORCHETTA. You’ve never met a pork like this: it’s like crack! It’s roasted for 4 hours, this is a salty, seasoned pork with a super crispy skin. Your mouth will water as you look at this tempting porchetta on display, while he carves off pieces for you and stuffs it in a crusty roll or simply serve it on a parchment paper. You will need vino bianco(or rosso) to wash the whole thing down. The place is frequented by a mix of locals and tourists, and by the looks of his thick binder of a guest book(we signed it of course!) people from all over the world have discovered this amazing place. Tight quarters, convivial locals, curious tourists and great food. Most importantly, cheap at € 3 a sandwich! It is such a bargain, even your mother will approve!
