I’d probably give this place more of a 2.5 star rating. We wanted a meal before leaving Rome and since this was close to the terminal, albeit in a seedy part of town, we opted to try some Chinese food in Italy. It was a really hot day so it really sucks that it feels like there’s no air conditioning in the restaurant. Also, not sure why it’s called Hong Kong F&S when the people in there don’t speak Cantonese and the food tastes more like northern Chinese food than southern. The West Lake soup had no cilantro at all. Not a real problem since the taste was decent, but just thought it was strange. The soup gets its name because of the cilantro in there, making it look like the lotus leaves in West Lake. Anyway, random trivia aside, the dry stir-fried beef noodles were okay. Pretty small portions for the price(as with everything we ordered). Some of the noodles were too firm. Nothing special, but we ordered the most basic dishes in case this restaurant sucked. The bai cai were forgettable and greasy. The black pepper beef was decent, but some of the meat was too tough to chew. What a waste. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. Overpriced, small portions, and doesn’t hold a candle to NYC Chinese food. And they should probably get some new rice bowls… they were way too hot to hold.

The food here definitely hit the spot. Although located on a somewhat seedy block and they seem to get a rather interesting mix of patrons, the food was actually tasty and quite inexpensive. This is definitely not a destination place, but if you are at the train terminal or in the area and craving Chinese food as my friend and I were after 5 days of taking in a pasta only diet while on vacation, you’ll appreciate Hong Kong. If you are looking for fine dining however, keep walking.

i know it is hard to find a good tasty place in rome for chinese food. their taste is good, very tasty but too bad the portions and prices do not match! we spent about 50euro on 1 liter of coke, and 3 dishes. needless to say we left hungry and didnt want to order more. it was just too expensive for such a meal. we know because in nyc, chinatown we know what prices should be. however i also understand this is a tourist destination. also we found a fly on our table, suffering like he was nearly dead which is really gross. the feeling of this restaurant is trying to be high class and fancy but the décor does not match! the service was standard, and was not exceptional. they seem to be always busy running around and really don’t bring what you request right away although they do not forget. if you walk a few blocks west toward esquilino district, you will find plenty more chinese restaurants that are just as good, and much cheaper! much easier on the wallet. i was able to eat many meals for under 20 euro just around the corner at JINGYI! that’s where the real locals go!
