I’m going to cut to the chase here since this hotel is not even worth my time for a thoughtful positive review. It’s been frustrating here to say the least. First major issue is the water leaks when flushing their toilet. It’s a good amount of water leaking. You’d think there may be a creation of another Mediterranean Sea right there in your bathroom. I took pics but the water doesn’t show up too well so posting it was useless. Sorry. Room service was a little off. Each time they had cleaned the toilet they’d put a piece of paper which wraps around the toilet cover which tells you it has been serviced and cleaned. 3 out of the 4 days, they clearly did not clean the toilet. Old trash was there and the paper showing the toilet was cleaned was nowhere to be found. They were also stingy w the shampoo and soap. If you are use to using body wash rather than bar soap please bring your own because they won’t have any. Rooms are small. Whatever you see online looks bigger than it really is. I can’t say it’s clean either. It’s actually fairly old. First day I got here, they told me my room wasn’t going to be available so they sent me across the street to Hotel Cristo for a day. Room vs price was horrible. You might as well airbnb a nice pad rather than spend your dollars at Cristo or here at Monte Carlo. My friends were at a hostel down the block. Another Elite Ringo M was just coming over to visit so we can go pick up a bite. They wouldn’t let him up into my room at all unless we paid an extra 35 euros plus 4 tax totalling 39 euros. I asked what’s the big deal w him coming into my room for just a few mins while I got ready and they said no he has to pay to stop by even though he won’t be staying there. I’m absolutely offended by their service. Since we would be going to eat down the street, we wanted to leave Ringo’s stuff in my room so that we can grab it after lunch. The guy at the front desk saw that and said no you cannot bring his belongings to the room. He has to pay. Seriously? At this point I’m thinking WTF!!! Furthermore, their AC needs help. Lots of help. Good luck w that. I would never recommend anyone to ever stay here. Oh and if you want breakfast here at the hotel it’s an extra 19 dollars euro aka 22USD. That’s to be laughed at. You can get plenty of great Italian eats within mins of a walk for half the cost. Your money will be better spent at a finer location and hotel. Take my word for it. Enjoy your trip to Rome.

We enjoyed this hotel during our awesome stay in Rome. The front desk gentleman was so sweet and helpful. I read the only other review for this hotel and can’t imagine it being the same front desk attendant. I wish I asked his name but he was a gentlemen in his late 40’s-early 50’s, very soft spoken, and eye glasses. He was wonderful. Probably the nicest hotel worker I’ve ever encountered. He helped us with food recommendations, getting us transportation, directions to the train, printing vouchers for us, etc. The only reason I took off one star is because the beds aren’t that comfortable. Other than that we had a great experience at this hotel.

This hotel saved me from sleeping out on the streets of a country I’d never been to before. I arrived at my hotel(a different hotel) to find the door was locked and no one wanted to open it when I rang the bell. Mind you I had just taken a cab from the airport after a delayed flight and it is now 3am. So I walked down the street and found the Montecarlo. This hotel was the only hotel in the area that had any rooms and the guy was able to get us rooms for the night. Mind you, we were forced to get two single rooms because they were all that was left(super romantic for my boyfriend and I to sleep separately our first night in Rome) however, we were given a discount. There was nothing exceptionally special about the rooms,(one smelled kinda bad actually) but we were grateful that we were put up in the middle of the night and given a discount because they had no double rooms available.

Never stay here! The front desk«attendant» can’t possibly be bothered for anything especially after mixing up our reservations and blaming it on me… Seriously jackass! I know exactly what I booked, I handed you the black and white copies. I asked him for an extra set of sheets for the beds that we had to separate ourselves after checking in. Was told«nope you don’t get more sheets, no extras»… Cool! Thanks, guess I will just burn my money next time. Also asked for a restaurant recommendation upon arrival, he starred at me as if I kicked his dog before telling me to walk down the street to find something. If you love super small rooms, terrible service, and a bad location book this hotel…
