We cane and tried this place on a trip to Rome. We were starving and very tired one evening so we wanted something quick and close to our hotel, so we decided to try this place. I actually really enjoyed it. The guy serving us was very very friendly and helped us pick out some vegetarian friendly items. The price was decent and it was a lot of food. We ended up coming here again on our last night in town to grab some food real fast. It was good for a quick bite. Im a big fan of the price and portion size. It was also tasty.

1. I had to get my own food(actually bring it to the table) 2.I saw that they microwaved the food before handing it to me to take to my table(not fresh) 3.16 euros for lunch is a little too much money 4.drinks are not included it’s additional 5.did not taste any more special than McDonald’s

Best meal Ive had during my stay! The portions were huge and at a great price. For a choice of pasta, meat, and a vegetable you pay only 9 euros. That is very convenient when you are stay in Rome for 12 days with a family of 4. The lasagna is AMAZING! So are the meatballs and the chicken!

If i could give a zero i’d give a zero. I’m not a difficult person To make happy with good Food but it was simply bad! The Staff wasn’t friendly, it was cheap alright but so were the other joints i tried in Rome, the other seven were simply 100 times better. I’m terribly sorry but it was bad prepared massproduction reheated in the microwave. And that’s a fact because i saw it happen with my own eyes! A bummer i forgot To take a picture.

My friend and I visited this restaurant when we were in Rome and enjoyed our meal via Unilocal recommedations. I was very thankful for Unilocal while in Italy. The restaurant reminded me of a nicer pizza spot in NYC. My friend had the pizza with chicken and wasnt pleased with her choice. The price of the pizza is based on weight and hers totaled 6 Euros. I tasted it and it was just okay. Its sad to say but Im pretty sure its because we’re so accustomed to NYC pizza that we didnt find the pizza in Italy that great. I had the dinner special– salad, turkey and lasagna for 9 Euros and enjoyed my filling meal. I shared some with my friend who wished she had ordered what I had. The staff were real cool and patient because we took forever deciding on what we actually wanted. I also had watermelon tea drink that was soo good. They sold it in various stores around Rome but I remember reading where it was from and it wasnt Italy. Overall, this is a great and affordable spot to check out right in the heart of it all.

This is an amazing spot for English-speaking tourists! Came here by myself at the recommendation of my B&B owner. It was easily the best meal I had during my entire stay in Rome and probably during all of my travels to Italy. The layout is a «buffet» style with a selection of pizzas, pastas, vegetables, appetizers. A typical filled plate is 9 euros, but honestly unless you’re the hungriest person on Earth, you can probably split a «filled» plate between two people. I just wanted a piece of lasagna and they gave me an extremely generous portion for 5 euros. The lasagna was true Italian style with bechamel(instead of ricotta, which often appears in the American version) and parmesan(instead of mozzarella). Everything was so perfect about it and I savored every bite. It really made me appreciate the subtleties of Italian cooking. I also got a glass of house red wine for 3 euros. Eight euros for the perfect meal in Rome, not bad. Since everything is pre-made and all they do is heat it up, it’s a great place if you’re travelling by yourself or want a quick sit-down dinner. I hope my life will take me back to Rome so I can have this meal again!

I’m somewhat disappointed. Not the best pizza I’ve had in Italy. Crust hard and burnt. The draft beer 5 € is a bit too much for this place. Will not be here again.

First of all it’s mostly a fast food. Good one though. You can choose from a ready set of dishes. Price is good, food is ok. Perfect place to fill your stomach after full day of tourism. But again, nothing special and keep in mind that it is not a place to experience roman cuisine. You’ll find exact same food in almost every country in EU or U.S.

Found the place on Unilocal,.but was really disappointed. Ok pizza but quite boring and the staff wasn’t that kind and had some trouble speaking English… But then again it was really cheap. For two persons we had wine, cola and pizza for 15 €.

Portion size VERY good, we got a 3 portion meal for 9 euro and it was a lot of food. The food was very good, and the pizza was excellent. This page says that there is no wifi, but they do supply wifi with a password if you ask for it.(it’s «12345678») It has nice outdoor seating as well as indoor seating The way that this restaurant is set up is that all the food is already cooked and infront of you when you get there and you chose what you want and they put it on a plate and microwave it, although they oven heat the pizza. Altogether the worker there was very nice and the food was very very good.

The people here were very friendly and spoke English well. For 9 Euro you get to choice any one pasta, any one meat, fish or chicken, and any one vegetable. We had the house wine and it was great(not included but cheap). The food was so good we went back again the next day. The portions are huge and they even let you try multiple pastas or veggies with no extra charge. I saw a lot of locals also ordering the pizzas on the menu which looked great, so even though we were stuffed we had to try a pizza and was not disappointed. Some of the best pizza I’ve had in Rome. I defiantly recommend you try if your in the area.

Sides were great! I wish I’d read reviews carefully before going, because I stupidly ordered the square, pre-cooked, pay by weight pizza behind the glass sneeze guards. BIGMISTAKE! Maybe the made-to-order pies would be better… Or, better still, stick to the home cookin’ items… ’cause the sides were really that good!

Let me start by saying I found La Cucumma on Unilocal while trying to find a place to eat for my last night in Rome. It had great reviews and rating. I didn’t completely understand the idea of their 9 € Menú until I got there. At first glance it seems unclassy to pick your food«cafeteria style» from behind the glass sneeze guard but the food is AMAZING! Here are some things I noted on my amazing experience: –The contents change on the menú daily and the food is absolutely delicious; definitely homemade –Each dish on the menú(pasta/rice, meat/fish, and vegetable) have 5 or 6 different options to pick from. So there’s variety –The portions were huge –Bread and service charge were included in the price(which is a rarity in Rome) –Friendly service in English if necessary –Drink not included, but not necessary if you bring your own(side note: just carry your own bottle of water around everywhere because restaurants don’t care if you refuse their CHARGED water and drink your own FREE water; and don’t worry, there are tons of water fountains all over Rome to refill) –I arrived @ 7:30 P.M. on a Saturday night and it was the perfect time before the rush –I never felt rushed while sitting there despite the small seating area and immense popularity of the restaurant –Lastly, I felt like I was the only tourist in the restaurant, which is always a good sign

Like other reviewers have mentioned, we spent a total of $ 22 Euro for a meal for 2 people. There are a lot of places close to the Termini where you can spend this much or more and get much less and not nearly as good. We didn’t try the pizza but it looked really good. The«Tourist Menu» which comes with a number of side dishes and a main dish are chosen from a cafeteria style display case. But don’t let that deter you — everything tastes good, is well prepared, generous portions and one of the better deals you’ll find in this neighborhood.

One of our absolute favorite restaurant discoveries while in Rome :) for $ 22 Euro my boyfriend and I could get a 1 ltr of mineral water, 2 beers, 2 main entrée, and 4 side items of different salads & veggie plates!(also known as antipasti, primi, secondi, e contorno). Huge heaping portions of meatballs, white fish, lasagna, risotto. just a very diverse and large selection of different veggies and entrees. BUT, they are so hospitable that if you want to try one or two main entrees, or maybe 3 side items, just ask and they will let you! They will pretty much let you try whatever you want for the 9 Euro! Tip is included, but seriously-they deserve every single penny of any tip left. Very friendly, awesome service, de-LICIOUS comfort food, AND we were treated to a street musician playing his Chinese Ehru!(didn’t try the pizza’s but they looked very yummy as well :) Tutto Bono!

This is an excellent casual spot with multiple choices of very good home made food in a hot table setting. The owner was extremely friendly and for $ 14 euro it was more than worth it for the 2 of us! I ate the Merluzza(white fish) Grilled Eggplant(il melanzane griglia) e spinaci! My friend had the pasta and he is from Naples and he loved it! I would definitely go back again, and again, and again! BRAVI!

We were treated to delicious comfort food on our last night in Roma! Our objective was to get some gelato at Ornelli but found this tavola calda nearby as we browsed the many restaurants on Via Merulana. We were not disappointed by the 9 euro deal for dinner: healthy portions of primi, secondi, and contorno. I had pasta, fish, and spinach. My boyfriend had lasagna, meatballs, and chicory. Our daughter loved my pasta so much she ignored her pizza. Though there was no A/C, we grabbed a table by the French doors. Our timing was great because we got in minutes before the dinner rush. The clientele were mostly natives, stopping in for some take-away or grabbing a bite after work. Definitely a great way to end a wonderful vacation.

We arrived jet lagged and hungry for a taste of Rome, but not desperate enough to squander one of our vacation’s meals on the first eatery we found. Fortunately, wandering around the neighborhood near our Stazione Termini area hotel at dusk we discovered La Cuccuma. It was brightly lit and inviting. I was attracted by the lack of English signage visible from the street. It was worth a try. It turned out to be perfect. There were tasty-looking pizzas laid out in full view, but we passed those in favor of the«one plate» special advertised in Italian on the sidewalk chalkboard. For nine Euros a plate, we each selected a first course(pasta or salad), a second course(meat or fish), and a side dish. Good bread was included. All of the choices were in view behind the counter for easy selection. I tried my newly acquired pidgin Italian, which the staff humored with a smile, but I could have easily just pointed. Conveniently, they accepted credit cards, allowing us to save our Euros. The food was varied, tasty, and plentiful. As the dining area filled in, we saw that much of the clientele were tourists, but it still felt like we had arrived in Rome. We noticed the staff were at ease serving in multiple languages, and were friendly to all. It was such a good deal on Italian comfort food that we returned later in the week and were pleased to find that the selections for the«one plate» special changed. There was no shortage of yummy stuff. Grazie, La Cuccuma!
