A hidden gem! Pastas are cooked perfectly and are delicious. The service was so warm and inviting. I love this place! My hubby said it is the best Cacio e Pepe he has ever had… and he’s a pasta snob. It fills up quickly so go a bit early. Delicious, great ambiance… well deserved five stars

I really wanted to love this place. It came highly recommended by two separate acquaintances. The food was delicious, but the amount of time we had to wait for our courses was unacceptable. My husband and I sat down at 7:20pm but did not receive our bill until 9:45pm(without dessert). We spit an antipasto, primo and secondi course. Now I’m all about enjoying my meal and taking our time, but there was a party of six(sat shortly before us) and a party of three(sat after us by quite a bit) that paid and left before we even received our secondi course. The party of six even ordered dessert and cappuccino and was out before our last course. The waiter did apologize but only after we asked repeatedly. I realize our experience may be just the luck of the draw but be warned that you may be waiting at this restaurant a while for your meal.

My wife and I had a spectacular dinner here and highly recommend Vecchia Locanda for a multi course dinner in the heart of Rome. We tried a number of top rated restaurants in Rome and this was our favorite. Our waiter Fabio was excellent and the home made pasta was amazing. We had five courses and while the dinner lasted quite a while, which Americans are not accustomed to, the experience of having such quality food a few blocks from the Pantheon tucked away on a side street in Rome was perfect. Also the wine bottle we ordered was fantastic and only 25 Euros. Overall this restaurant is a great value. Take your time and enjoy this restaurant!

Incredible food. One of the best meals we had not just in Rome but in all of Italy. Trust me — order the lemon Parmesan gnocchi and the three peppercorn filet of beef. You won’t be disappointed!

This little Resturant and its location will make you feel like you are in a movie. Charming, charming, Charming. The food is really good but a tad more expensive. I had beef with potatoes and white truffles. It was sublime as was the tarramiso. A bottle of great wine for 20 euro yes!

It’s so goood. I feel like my past couple of days in Rome I have been eating shit, except for that pizza at Trastevere. I will come back. Plus… the service was awesome

Another amazing Italian restaurant with a perfectly cooked pasta! Nothing like having a dinner in Center Storico with a plate of truffle pasta and the most romantic décor!

Probably the best meal since we got to Rome. I really enjoyed the food in all the restaurants we’ve gone to, but this was the best one without a doubt. I founded it through Unilocal and the revoews were right. We ordered Caprese Salad, Spaguetti alle Vongole and Tagliate di Manzo Danese with Potatoes and Trufles. Too good! Excellent!

This place was wonderful. I showed up one night and they said they were booked with reservations, so I left, but one of the waiters ended up chasing me down the road to tell me there was one open table for me! The food was incredible and the service was great too. Cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!

This place was so good we went back a second time. It is very romantic, reasonably prices and the staff was attentive and friendly. The first time I ordered short pasta with bacon and truffles and peppered steak. DELICIOUS! My husband thought it was going to be multi-colored bell peppers but it was seasoning peppers and not vegetable peppers. Doesn’t matter, still good. We also had the spinach with olives and pine nuts. Yum! The second time we ordered short pasta with bacon and truffles and beef tortellini with truffles. The later was even better then our previous fave of short pasta with bacon. So filling we were not able to try any of their desserts. We would highly recommend La Vecchia Locanda. Great service and fantastic food!

Lovely small home feel restaurant run by an old couple. I was in Rome for one day and only had a pasta and a glass of wine here. The pasta was one of the best I’ve had in Italy. Great, old, traditional with black truffle over. Very delicious. Wish I could come again and try other dishes.

Das beste Restaurant, in dem wir in unseren vier Tagen Rom gegessen haben. Sehr aufmerksamer, nicht aufdringlicher Service. Nettes Ambiente.

This little hidden gem will surprise you. Tucked away in an alley, and with a patio covered by a giant green tarp, its not the first place that grabs your attention. But trust me, EATHEREANYWAYS. Once you sit down, the vibe and décor really do click. The food is unbelievable. Homemade dishes made from scratch, great wine, and a fantastic menu all compliment each other(try the truffle pasta — it’s their house specialty and its incredible). Additionally, the staff is warm, welcoming and accommodating. They are great at their jobs, very polite, and will leave you feeling like you are part of the family by the time you walk out! We’ve been in Rome over a week, eating out every night trying to find out favourite place. This place definitely takes the cake from all aspects — a MUSTTRY while you are in the city.

Ambience was nice — al fresco dining. Service was friendly. We were able to get seated no problem when our prior reservation fell through because we were running late. Food was so so — we had pastas, seafood and meat. Seafood was a bit briny — not bad, but not the freshies we’ve had. It could probably be considered 3.5 star food in the US, but for an amazing food city like Rome, there’s such amazing food places that you could have much better food with some planning.

We ate here for 2 nights and enjoyed every dish. I absolutely recommend it. I don’t know how they do the sauces. Ugh. I need to make them when I get home. We also tried the steaks, lamb chops and swordfish. All were so delicious. We have 2 more nights here. I don’t know if I can trust any other places. Ughhhhh.

I’m so glad we found this place on Unilocal, because we never would have found it otherwise. It’s located off the main roads on a small and narrow side street. We arrived at 8pm and were seated immediately, although we didn’t have a reservation. It turned out we were quite lucky, because the place was packed just 30 minutes after we got there. The food didn’t take too long to arrive and it was AMAZING! The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the sauces perfectly flavored. We had to try their tiramisù even though we were already full, but it turned out to taste as great as it looked. This was just our second dining experience in Rome so far, but we’ll definitely come back before we leave later this week!

Great food wonderful service — low key spot off the main road. We had: — Caprese salad: this was styled more like an American caprese than the Italian caprese that we were used to having so far in Italy. It was served with cherry tomatoes, little slices of bufala mozzarella and a handful of arugula sprinkles on top. Still good but portion was smaller than expected — carbonara: I’m not Italian so I’m speaking by American standards but it was mighty good. Light and flavorful unlike the heavy cream version served in the u.s. This version has no cream only egg and cheese to create the flavor — steak: was done medium rare just like we asked, was okay — grilled veggies — it was okay, had zucchini and potatoes mixed into it. We wanted to order the artichokes but they were out of season — tiramisu: I believe they make this in-house, it was delicious. Light and airy, with a touch of alcohol when you get down to the bottom — bottle of Pinot Grigio recommended by the waiter also delicious and complimented our good well

Listen to the reviews– it’s tucked away, right through a bridge/overpass. GREAT food and staff here(very friendly). Amazing caprese(the best part of the meal), and really good gnocchi. I would skip the veal meal(a little too salty). I would recommend getting here early or making a reservation. We had a group of 10 but were accommodated because we arrived right when it opened. Saw many getting turned away. We got lucky!

This place is amazing. The service is slow some people might say but everywhere in europe is slow to Americans so just sit back and relax. The food quality is top notch. This is absolutely the best food I had in italy and I’m not even a big italian food fan! The beefstrips with artichoke and olives is to die for. I just might have gone two days in a row and ordered the same thing. Prices are pretty equivalent to other restaurants but this is a much better value. A bottle of house wine 15 euros, my steak strip was like 12 euros, dessert was about 5 euros.

The best restaurant experience we had in Rome — by far. A hidden jewel right in the middle of tourist trap wasteland between the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. All of the food is good and so are the wine, décor, atmosphere, and service. The staff are so genuine and kind that you can trust them entirely to recommend dishes and daily specials — as well as to suggest glasses and bottles of Italian wine. It helps if you speak a little«restaurant Italian», but they are so good-natured it doesn’t matter. This the charming restaurant you were hoping to find in Rome. TIP: it’s very difficult to find — literally in an alleyway. If you approach from the eastern side you need to go under a small archway to enter the alley. See photo

This place brings the quality in almost every area. How’s that, you ask? Allow me to elaborate. Environment: the ambiance is incredible… walls lined with wine bottles, comfortable tables, and a low murmur of voices and conversation. This is a relaxing downstairs spot with a true Italian feel. Food: the food was outstanding. I started with some bread a spaghetti dish, then had the fillet with peppercorn sauce and roasted potatoes as my main course. The house wine(white) was on point and I actually took a picture of the label to try to get some back in the US. Perfection. The service: throughout the meal the service was excellent… our waiter was kind, attentive, and made great recommendations. The only issue(and reason for four stars and not five) was when the bill came it didn’t seem to add up. First of all, they charged us for the bread that they automatically brought. Not the worst thing on the planet, but seems like not the best practice. Then there was an additional amount on the bill that we did not recognize, to the point where we actually asked our waiter to translate. It turned out that the roasted potatoes(billed as «and what side would you like with your filet?) were not part of the meal either. Both of these unexpected charges, again while not monstrous or a huge issue, left a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth about this place. If something is «extra» it should be noted and it was disaponting to be surprised like that.
