It was my last night in Prati(why must I like nice things?) and I wanted a chill, relaxed way to enjoy it. After taking a walk around the neighborhood, window shopping and plotting which building I was going to buy one day, I stumbled upon people spilled out onto the sidewalk eating pizza, drinking wine and being loud. I was in. Turns out I had come across a neighborhood favorite wrt pizza. I walked into the basement restaurant(hadn’t done that in a while), smelled the wondrous pies and knew I was in the right place. Rather than taking a table for 1 inside, I opted for some sidewalk eating. Looking at my neighbors’ plates, I knew I could take down an entire pie. This isn’t Roman-style(scissors and thick) pizza. This is the neapolitan-like(I think official Neapolitan pizza requires a few things without variants), wood-fired-style pizza that most Americans think of when they think about ‘Italian’ pizza. I ordered the namesake. It came with cheese, peppers, sausage, and arugula. Paired with my pizza, I opted for a liter of beer. It was a pilsner(so, easy to drink, goes very well with pizza of all sorts), local… but, most importantly, there was a liter of it. A liter! That’s just *this* shy of a 40. Even if the pizza was awful, I would have been in a good mood. Fortunately, the pizza was delicious. It was exactly the slightly-crispy, slightly-chewy, just-the-right-amount-of-cheese, hey-there-are-leaves-on-my-pizza pizza I wanted. The beer was cold and plentiful. The weather was perfect. The neighborhood was alive. The people watching(and listening) was entertaining… There’s a reason why scenes from an Italian restaurant have worked so well for so many years. Whether you’re starting an Italian adventure or ending one, odds are, this is the pizza you had in mind while planning your trip to the Eternal City. Do yourself a favor: sit down, order a pie, drink a large amount of some sort of alcohol, sit outside, and take a minute to think about where you are and what you’re doing.

You know it’s authentic because absolutely no one here speaks english! The best pizza in all of Italy! You wouldn’t even know it exists if the tables are not lined up along the sidewalk with people sitting, chatting, eating and drinking. The restraunt is down some stairs and you can see your food being made as you sit. And it’s only 5 euros for a liter of wine! They only have house red or house white, we had red and it was just fine! We ordered the buffalo pizza and buffalo and prosciutto pizza… to die for! If in Rome and looking for pizza go here!!!

I absolutely LOVED this place! It was a short walk from our B&B in Rome and during our 3 day stay in that area, we went to L’Archetto twice! The pizza is DELICIOUS! I tried bites of each of my family members’ selections and all were great. They have about a million different combinations, some tried & true and some new & different. All very tasty! Portion sizes are HUGE! I’m not sure if any of us ever ate an entire pizza and half was more than plenty for me. Oh and did I mention the price? It was inexpensive. Quality and a low price? WIN! We sampled a few of the desserts one night too — everyone loved them! Definitely check this place out if you’re in the vicinity!

Great pizza. When what you seek is the non-Roman form of pie, this one delivers in spades. We had 3 pies: fungi, melenzane and margherita. All we cooked to perfection with edges just starting to char nicely. We are quite picky of pizza. We live in NYC and have our definite favorites and discussion about pizza rivals politics in my family. Service was fast and attentive and priced reasonably by Rome standards. € 33. with a bottle of white wine. Good to have 2.5 blocks away from my pensione.

You want to find an absolutely local joint in Prati, well this is it! If its not open with tables lining the entrance along the sidewalk, you will never know its a restaurant. It is located in the basement of a building that has a steel green door and opens up to a a small walkway leading into the dining room. It does tend to get a bit hot and smokey down there in the summer, but otherwise this is your perfect pizza local and should definitely be on your radar. I studied abroad for 6 months and stopped here at least once a week after making friends with a bunch of locals playing soccer. Everything is priced very cheaply but quality is not compromised here and they still use fresh ingredients when making your pizza or whatever else you may choose(burratas, fish, pastas, etc.). *Disclaimer — it is closed the majority of August as the majority of these family-run Italian joints are, but make sure to do what you can to come in for a pizza. Buon Appetito!
