Loved the view and and the atmosphere with exemption of gross man feeding his dog from his fork at the table I don’t know if it’s just cultural differences but I own 2 German shepherds and would never even think to be so gross But the food was outstanding and I ordered an expresso martini and they sent away to another bar as they didn’t know how to make it which was fine as when it arrived it was perfect all the servers were 5star quality making sure to be constantly filling waters and removing plates they are outstanding my lamb was cooked perfect I left feeling very happy and my first dinner in Rome

Fantastic food in a very relaxing and upscale setting. We dined here several times during our extended stay at the Cavalieri and the food was perfect each time. The breakfast selection was great with a mix of American, Asian and European staples along with your typical Continental Breakfast. The baked goods were all very fresh and the offerings of prepared, buffet-style items were also excellent. One of the dinner meals we had consisted of the ceviche and Chianina carpaccio as appetizers with an excellent Peidmonte Prosecco. The seafood was super-fresh and very flavorful, the briny sea notes were evident in every bite. The beef was also outstanding as the meet was paper thin and dressed with a light aioli, giant caper berries and shaved Grana Padano. They served this with a great Tuscan Rose which paired well. As a main course the wife had the tagliolini with lobster and cherry tomatoes. The sauce was quite delicate and the fact that they used the more flavorful North American lobster as opposed to African lobster was a great touch. I opted for an off-menu lasagna in the Emilia Romanga style. The béchamel was light and flavorful and was accompanied by a hearty meat ragu. I had this with a fantastic Campanian Aglianico whose tannins paired well with the rich sauce. For dessert we split a caramel panna cotta with fresh fruit which was silky and not overly sweet. They also brought out several delicious petit fours with my wonderful Italian espresso. The service was impeccable and very attentive without being intrusive. The prices, while not cheap, were still reasonable, the entire meal was less than 200 Euros. All in all this was a great dining experience in a fabulous setting.

I’ll be honest — it’s been awhile since I ate here(I missed to publish the review) — but I guess prices haven’t changed to the better. This is one of the restaurants on site at Waldorf Astoria Rome Cavalieri Hotel. The mozzarella starter is an interesting experience with 3 different kinds including a smoked one. The service is great and the dishes we had were tasty, but somehow something’s lacking. It’s hard to pinpoint what exactly. The outdoor area was closed so we had dinner indoors(hotel’s breakfast area). It is pricy and even if we are used to pricy restaurants this one wasn’t worth the euros. They accept AMEX.

I just dined at L’Uliveto, and it was outstanding. I had the Filet with porcini mushrooms and truffle oil. Cooked to a perfect(and requested) medium rare. The filet was just excellent. Don’t overthink it– you won’t go wrong. My lovely dining partner had the Veal medallion(which was more of a large steak cut), which was quite good. Served with green beans in a light pesto sauce. I shared this dish, as it was a bit too much for her– I was happy to help. Delicious. They sell wines by the glass starting in the 12 – 15 € range, but we found a great local(Lazio area) bottle, Casale Del Giglio Shiraz for 32 €, and it was just lovely. If you’re not trying to spend with reckless abandon, you could do a lot worse than this move. The service was absolutely stellar. Every detail was well attended; I could not have asked for more. We rarely opt for dessert, but the«When in Rome» attitude was pervasive, so we gladly accepted the advice of our server. We chose the Ciciliano Surprise; it consisted of a vanilla-ish ice cream, coated in a toasted, sweet meringue of sorts. It was surrounded by a Strawberry/Lingonberry sauce, which set the flavor combination off through the roof. It’s difficult to describe what a delicious treasure we experienced, and yes– we were appropriately surprised. Angels sang. Popes poped. Vaticans vacated. Unbelievable.
