Really terrible service. My salad and bruschetta served to me. My husband never got his entrée although we asked about it several times. We finally told them not to bother. The waiter rudely refused to acknowledge any error. There is only one toilet for the three restaurants connected to the name of the establishment Not even a male and female restroom

Stopped in as we were walking by and glad we did. Great little spot for dinner. Great food and prices were decent too. Interesting artwork on the wall as well. Fried zucchini flowers were excellent.

This is the first review I’ve written, which speak volumes about the food and experience. The service was incredible and friendly and fast, and the food? We’ve been here on business all week and have had mostly sub-par food experiences in Rome. We spent an hour on Unilocal making sure our last night were different than the other nights. We found Otello and though it only had 7 ratings, they were all 5 stars. I can attest to this. The food was the best I’ve had in months. The last thing I’ll say is that this place has been open since the 60’s. There’s a good reason for that. The two sons now run the place will ensure it will be around for a good long time. Well done guys. Excellent.

We decided to come here while walking back from Castel Sant’Angelo and looking through Unilocal. We actually had a hard time finding the place since it’s down through some door/driveway. When we did see it, we thought it was closed since the restaurant looked empty from the end of the driveway. But fortunately for us, they were open and all the customer were seated in the outside garden area off to the side. We ordered bruschetta, rigatoni, veal cutlet, artichoke, and tiramisu. All the food was good but nothing was over-the-top memorable. A good solid place for dinner.

Excellent choice for our last night in Italy! We got lucky. Arrive after opening and you may not get a table unless you have reservations. Wonderful food, lovely ambience in the garden, good house red wine and attentive staff! Wine store directly across the way recommended them and we are grateful.

The spigola was fabulous. Fried calamari and shrimp less so. The dishes I saw arriving at other tables looked delicious. Portions are large but reasonably priced. Salads are very large. Service was very friendly but a little slow. The location is lovely, and intimate and well ventilated.

Had the cheese plate and veal saltimbocca. Both were great and the atmosphere in the alley was cozy. I did feel bad because I was not able to finish the whole cheese plate, too much of good thing.

This place has the best eggplant parm I have ever tasted. I make sure and get here on any trip to Roma.

Outstanding, authentic, and delicious! The stewed artichoke roman style was amazing, as was the pasta carbonara and the veal saltimboca. Can’t go wrong! Great find just steps from the Spanish Steps. tucked away is this GEM of a restaurant. Our friend and tour guide, who has lived in Rome her whole life, recommended this restaurant, and it delivered. The Carciofi all Romana is not to be missed. I enjoyed the pasta carbonera and the vela saltimboca. both awesome. There is a garden seating area that is like a greenhouse which looked fun, too. Our service didn’t win any awards, but the food was outstanding. Don’t miss this one if you are visiting Rome. Literally, don’t miss the little side street it is on!

Main courses 6.50 €-18 €($ 7.50-$ 21) Owner: Pia(daugter of former owner) Paintings by famous Hungarian artist Amerigo Tote in the gallery.(This was Amerigo favorite restaurant and, when I lved in Rome, mine too.) Request a table in the arbor-covered courtyard near the fountain where the fruit and fresh vegetables announce their perfection. A stone corridor set back from the street leads into the restaurant. One of the rare places one can get Authentic Roman food. The Italain menu is superb.(Avoid ordering from the American menu.) Favorites of mine include: Putarelle in Salsa di alici(chicory Salad with an anchovy dressing), Vitello Tonnato, Sancer Torte con panna. The roast lamb is wonderful. Do not be in a rush, This is leisurely dining.
