A little disappointed ! Went there because of all the great reviews but left a bit disappointed… The food was good overall but a bit unequal. For starters we tried a mozzarella Di buffalo which was one of the worse I had to try in Italy(very dry and industrial). The Vongole pasta wasn’t very good but the gricia pasta were very tasty.

Wow! I’ve had a lot of good food while here in Italy, but Piccolo Arancio has been tops thus far. Our group of 10 came a few minutes late to our reservation and were seated quickly. We tried too many firsts to list, but none disappointed. We weren’t as creative when it came to seconds, as several of us duplicated orders. I was very satisfied with the swordfish with tomatoes and capers. Our host and waiter were extremely engaged — answering our never ending questions and translating were necessary. They recommended wine and drink(and didn’t just opt for the most expensive). They checked in. They checked in again. Very friendly. We ended with desserts, which included basically sampling one of each. Then we said our goodbyes as we all felt we were leaving someone’s home! Clearly, I recommend a visit.

A somewhat hidden gem. Piccolo is tucked away on a small street/alley and impossible for a non-local to stumble upon on his or her own. I was only able to find this place myself because I wasn’t happy with the generic options filled with tourists on the big non hidden streets. I did a quick search on Unilocal and trip advisor, and wa-la! Don’t fall for the tourist trappy-like restaurants on the big streets near the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain guys! Spend a little bit of time, do some research and you’ll find great establishments hidden just a minute or two away from the tourist traps ;) The restaurant itself is very big and separates into two sections. It gets crowded easily and many are willing to wait around for an outdoor table to free up. Our kind waiter knew we wanted to sit outside and actually took a table and chairs from inside the restaurant out to the streets for us! Food was amazing. Wine was amazing. We were also served a glass of complimentary prosecco each. Bread baskets are NOT* complimentary and like many restaurants in Rome, they don’t really give you the option to say no. The basket just comes without you asking. I believe it was 2.5 Euros on our bill for the basket. Pasta is made in house and all ingredients used tasted incredibly fresh and earthy. I sort of suck because this review is long overdue from May 2015 and I can’t even remember the names of the dishes we had. Note the seafood pasta in my pics as amazing though. The only thing I probably wasn’t crazy about was the prosciutto here. Still honestly one of the best meals I’ve had during my stay in Rome.

Piccolo Arancio was a much needed delight, a beautiful meal in a quaint little restaurant where the wine flowed and you could feel joy in the air. The food was by far the best we had in Rome and if I could have eaten a different dish there every night, I would have. The staff was friendly and we knew the food would be great when we were the only English speaking table. The atmosphere was full of locals enjoying a great dinner and the staff was always helpful and ready to provide whatever you needed. The location was a little tricky to find especially when we were only relying on paper maps and no GPS. But we managed and so will you! It’s well worth the wait if there is one and its location is really close to the Trevi Fountain but it’s not a tourist trap like other locations. Stop by for a great meal, a great staff and an enjoyable experience at Piccolo Arancio. **Order Dessert Too!

Came here because of the Unilocal reviews on a holiday with my roommate. This place exceeded our expectations! The service was amazing and the food even better. They were quick, but with all the homemade goodness for a great bargain. Would highly recommend again.

To say this place had Mediocre food would be a compliment. I would not recommend it suggest to you or anyone to eat. Service was great! Bathrooms were great. Prices were great. Location was great. Food was not great nor was it good.

Thumb up for this restaurant. I fell head over heel for their food. I got fried zucchini blossom, mussels sailor style, roasted baby lamb, and grill big prawn. They were All delicious. Their complimentary house white wine tasted way better than average, so we ended up ordering a bottle(11 € only). Highly recommend for this place!

The place is a true 4.5 but Unilocal only does five. Ok, We found this place on a last minute check on Unilocal… it was 300 ft from where we were staying so why not. Everything was delicious. They started us off with a nice prosecco to get the palate ready. We then started off w the artichoke romana and the anchovies w olive oil. Excellent. I’m new to anchovies trying them first in Cinque Terre and have been ordering them since. They were fresh, had a little light spice due to the chili flakes in the olive oil and not fishy at all. I had the lamb chops which were seasoned well but not as meaty as I wanted. Only complaint. My better half had the seafood linguini and said it was good. The shellfish was fresh and the sauce was a nice complimentary red sauce. The linguine was perfectly cooked. We ended the meal w the tiramisu and I don’t remember the name but it was a light whipped cream w a hint of lemon on top of a flakey pastry w fresh berries and shaved chocolate. All delightful. It was a good meal topped w great service in a quaint restaurant who truly cared about their food.

Food was excellent, especially the tiramisu! However, we were sitting next to a couple who had been there the night before and had apparently tipped extremely well, so needless to say, they got a lot of attention from the waiter while we sat there watching them be served literally 3 courses while we waited to be asked for dessert… Sitting there with empty plates, wine and water water glasses, smoking cigarettes… waiting…It’s like we were sitting next to will and Kate. Eventually, my wife had to go inside and ask for a cappuccino and tiramisu. And it DID come, at the same time as the table behind us also got served dessert(who happened to be seated 20 minutes AFTER we finished our meal). The owner was very nice when I informed him of our service and offered us some limoncello, which was appreciated. Overall good food, I just wish our service had been better.

Excellent cacio e Pepe and the other chef recommendations. Lovely little sidewalk tables on the quietest street in Roma. Don’t bother with the tourist traps near Trevi.

The food here was great! We got here around 9pm and it was full but the waiters were very good at finding people seats, even setting up new tables. We waited about 15 minutes since it is on the small side. We got the free prosseco deal from Unilocal and the food came out quickly. The only downside was we were next to the kitchen so it was a bit noisy.

We had dinner here after reading reviews. Then we made the reservation for the night after and then again we went a third time. Food is great! Pasta dishes are to die for, fish is very fresh, wine is excellent, personnel friendly and very accommodating, desserts are great(millefoglie is my favorite, so good). We will definitely be back here when in Rome next time!

Great restaurant tucked away in a non-busy alleyway near the Trevi Fountain. I would highly recommend stopping here either before or after a visit to the fountain. It doesn’t get too busy because it’s slightly hidden, but you’ll get your fair share of both Italian people and tourists. We were greeted with free prosecco and promptly sat down. We ordered a .5 liter of wine that cost only 7 euro(about 5 – 6 glasses total!). The pasta was fresh, savory, and just delicious, and the sauce tasted homemade and not like any that I’ve ever had. I can’t in the life of me remember what I got, but it was rigatoni pasta in a white sauce with bacon, parmesan, and another italian meat. It’s a must go!

Eat here. You’ll get very good service from fairly fluent waiters. You’ll get to order from a comprehensive menu of Roman standards. What you order will be well-prepared. The staff immediately understands that you might want to share a pasta or dessert. The bring a glass of prosecco when you sit down and, if they recognize you, some biscotti at the end of the meal. If you want a glass of wine, you’re not limited to some unknown«house white.» You can actually order from a variety of bottles. Piccolo Arancio is far better than any of the tourist places near the Trevi Fountain and the prices are quite reasonable. In the early evening, most of the clientele are foreign; later, Italians show up. It’s a good choice as your«go-to» restaurant in Rome.

Food is very good with reasonable price. We love stream mussel, best so far. The beef fillet is very tender and delicious. Fresh fish Carpaccio and king prawn is so fresh with olive sauce. We had a very happy meal there. Highly recommend this place!

Excellent service! Off the beaten path, but popular with tourists and locals alike. Small intimate setting. Great for families, friends and groups. Larger portions, unlike typical European outlets. The food for a «foodie» could be a bit average. The grilled prawns and the fettuccine we had was fresh and nice. The shellfish appetizer with clams and mussels in olive oil was actually quite tasty. However, on the flip side, the risotto was a overcooked. The lamb I had was ok, but a bit tough. Could have been cooked a bit slower to tenderize the meat. The wine selection is not bad and they cover a wide selection of vineyards across Italy. Seems like if you stick to the sea animals here, you would be fine! The Tiramisu was home made and great. Recommend trying that no matter what!

Restaurant is cute and tucked away so I felt like we had found something special. Food was good. Wine was good. Beware though that they’ll charge you for the bread basket that they voluntarily bring to the table and perhaps for things that you neither ordered nor received(like water in our case). Had high hopes but sleazy business practices are a real turnoff. We made the most of it, however.

Really nice restaurant with friendly staff! I came here because of a recommendation of my nice! En she was damn right. Really close to the trevi fountain which was a bit dissaponting at the time i visited it, because it was under construction. This restaurant made the day good. To welcome you, you will get a glas prosecco of the house. We took nice buffalo mozzarella with juicy tomatoes. And enjoyed the pasta with clams and mushrooms and the pasta salmone. To make our experience complete we took a piece of delicious tiramisu and crème catalana! Ow my gosh! they were mouthwattering! The staff was friendly and quick, maybe to quick sometimes. To give a little tip for improvement. We dont like it if you take our plates away while we are stil eating. But the rest was really nice! I would truly recommend this place

Quintessential Italian restaurant. Off the main walkways in an otherwise touristy area. I had the fettucini with salmon/cream sauce, the Mrs. had the pasta carbonara. Hers was excellent through and through: the pasta texture was perfect, sauce was spot on, bacon was a good contrast. The salmon taste on mine was a bit overwhelming until I bathed it in Parmesan cheese. They charge for bread with no olive oil/butter anything but no cover charge. Service was ok. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and then a couple of musicians played Italian music. Classic. The cappuccino and tiramisu were a great combo to top off the meal.

I have to say that this is one of the best restaurants that we ate at while in Rome. This little hidden gem is tucked away on a side street not more than 10 minutes from Trevi fountain. The key is it is away from the hustle and bustle, and far less touristy. We arrived pretty late on a Thursday evening and our server Matteo, ensured that we were seated promptly, and felt like we were at home. He spoke great English, so communication was a breeze. Another bonus was the outdoor seating, and not getting charged for it. The prices are on par with the area, but the food is far superior than the«English Menu» places. They also have wifi, just ask for the code. We had several dishes, everything was amazing, but dessert was heaven! The best Tiramisu I have ever had. hands down. So if you are in Rome, I would recommend trying«Small Orange» at least once! #Yelp100
