Pompi

Apparently tiramisu is pretty big in Italy which I had no idea. Show’s how much more I need to get out.
Visually, the dessert options at Pompi are quite stunning. The «restaurant» itself was more than interesting. We were sat and our order was placed. While waiting for our food and drinks it felt as though we were in a night club. Lighting was unique and the club music was on the louder side. Still, the food was served promptly and the taste was good.
Even though tiramisu isn’t my favorite dessert it’s not bad. I’d say if you’re looking for a «tiramisu experience» then Pompi might be the way to go.

Wer die richtige Entscheidung getroffen hat, sein Hotel außerhalb des Stadtzentrums zu wählen und in der Nähe des Re di Roma untergekommen ist, dem sei das Pompi empfohlen.
Es handelt sich um ein großräumiges Bistro mit folgenden Pluspunkten:
+sehr freundlicher Service, der einen nicht sofort als Touri behandelt und deswegen gleich auf Englisch anspricht, sondern serviceorientiert, geduldig und humorvoll weiterhilft (entsprechend gut auch das Klima in der Belegschaft, sofern man das gesehen hat)
+Illy-​Americano zum Selbstdosieren
+Leckere Panini & Patisserie (Eis und Wein haben wir nicht probiert, beides gibt es in großer Auswahl)
+Sonntags American, Samstags normaler Brunch, bei dem man für € 10 einen großen Teller gut gefüllt bekommt, PLUS 1 Teller mit Süßspeisen, PLUS Kaffee aus der Kanne (und der ist sogar gut!), Wasser und Saft
+Moderate Preise
Das Kunstleder des Mobiliars ist mittlerweile schon rissig, die Decke hat eine lecke Stelle, doch tut dies dem Charme des Ladens keinen Abbruch.
Wir kamen gern zum Frühstücken, Brunchen oder auch auf einen Absacker am Abend, um in angenehmer Atmosphäre, mit hauptsächlich einheimischen Gästen und 80er-​Jahre Musik dem Touri-​Troubel der Innenstadt zeitweise fern zu sein.
P. S.: Das beste Tiramisu? Naja. Ja, es ist gut. Aber ich hatte auch besseres in Rom ;o)

Great place to have a delicious Italian dessert (especially tiramisu)! Waitstaff was very friendly (our waiter even gave us a free bottle of water when we asked for tap) and prices are pretty reasonable. They have a wide variety of tiramisu and all the ones we tried were amazing — especially the pistachio and hazelnut ones. Cheap and expansive list of coffee and hot chocolate drinks as well. Highly recommended!

Eine italienische Bekannte hatte uns ebenfalls den Tipp gegeben ins Pompi zu gehen, da — wie bereits zuvor erwähnt — *dramatischer Trommelwirbel* das beste Tiramisù Roms hier auf uns warten sollte.
Diese Filiale von Pompi (inzwischen gibt’s glaub ich um die 2 – 3 Filialen) liegt etwas entfernt vom Touristentrubel, was angenehm ist, wenn man denn die Zeit dafür findet.
Wir waren Samstags um 10 Uhr dort, wobei sämtliche Plätze im Außenbereich zu dieser Zeit natürlich schon längst vergeben waren.
DESSERTS & ANGEBOT:
Die Spezialität des Ladens sind eindeutig die Tiramisus, die es in Probiergröße oder als Familienfeierportion zum vor Ort Essen oder zum Mitnehmen gibt. Neben dem «classico» gibt es diese in allen erdenklichen Varianten (von fruchtigen Tiramisu wie Pina Colada bis hin zu Cookies etc.) jede Naschkatze sollte hier also fündig werden.
Außerdem bekommt man hier Café-​typische Leckereien, italienisches Gebäck und Kuchen (mmhhh Cannoli), frisch gemachte Sandwiches, Eiscreme und Sorbets sowie besten italienischen Kaffee und heißes oder kaltes in flüssiger Form angeboten.
SERVICE:
Leider konnten die Verkäufer nur sehr wenig Englisch und waren auch nicht sehr bemüht darum sich mit uns zu verständigen, irgendwie hat es am Ende dann aber doch geklappt ;)
Wenn man Tiramisus mitnehmen möchte, dann bezahlt man dieses zunächst an der Kasse/​Ticketschalter und präsentiert den Schnipsel dann an der Theke, wo man dann wiederum die Köstlichkeiten fachmännisch in die Hand gedrückt bekommt.
PREISE:
Unser kleines Tiramisu hat 3,50 € zum Mitnehmen gekostet, was ich mehr als in Ordnung fand.
TIPP:
Wer keinen Sitzplatz im Pompi findet, kann sich bei schönem Wetter auf der begrünten Mittelinsel des nahegelegenen Kreisverkehrs ein lauschiges Plätzchen suchen. Dies bietet sich an, da Pompi anscheinend alles als TOGO-​Variante anbietet.

This is likely a 3.5 star review. It wasn’t bad, but I just don’t think I could justify the 4^th star.
This is the original location, near San Giovanni, which is more of a residential area than a tourist area. The café is filled with mostly locals. I’d say (depending on the weather), it’s best to sit out front at one of the tables.
Service was typical for Rome — decent. Not overly fast or friendly, but that was expected. They had no wifi, which I found strange for such a chain.
I had a glass of brachetto and the banana, dark chocolate and nutella tiramisu. It definitely lived up to the hype — it was really good.
However, it wasn’t so mind blowing that we returned, and it was right down the street from my friend’s apartment. There are just far too many other places that can do the same thing (and I am not a huge sweets eater).

Luckily for me, I stayed in San Giovanni which is a more residential non-​touristy area just outside the ancient walls. In Rome, 3pm is not a slow time since locals seem to enjoy their food and drink for hours upon hours at all times of day. So I was lucky to nab an outdoor table and soak up the fall Roman sun.
I normally don’t care for tiramisu. But THIS tiramisu… oh god yes. Light and flaky and spongey all at the same time, and not overly sweet. I also ordered an iced coffee which, had I known was basically a cold espresso shot, I would have ordered differently. A classic American mistake ;)
They also have gelato, cakes, pastries and lots of other goodies. Tons of seating indoors. Service is great also.

Known as the kingdom of tiramisu! The original location is near San Giovanni. It is better than the new franchise that popped up near the Spanish Steps. I recommend the original tiramisu. Don’t be lured in by the special flavors available on the menu. Some desserts are best without extra bells and whistles!!! They sell gelato and other desserts, but come here for the tiramisu!

Wo gibt es das beste Tiramisu Roms? Ganz klar, bei Pompi! Allein der Name «Il Regno del Tiramisu» verspricht bereits, dass Pompi der König des Tiramisu’s ist und ich kann dem nur zustimmen.
Mein absoluter Favorit neben dem klassichen Tiramisu ist das Tiramisu mit frischen Erdbeeren, zusätzlich gibt es dieses jedoch auch in den Geschmacksrichtungen Pistazie, Pina Colada oder auch Schokobanane.
Billiger ist es, wenn das Tiramisu als Takeaway mitgenommen wird. Wem es allerdings nichts ausmacht, dass er etwas mehr zahlt, der kann es sich auch im geschmackvoll eingerichteten Café gemütlich machen. Neben Tiramisu gibt es bei Pompi auch köstliches Eis, eine Vielzahl an Mehlspeisen UND — kaum zu glauben — auch Sachertorte im Angebot.
Von der Sachertorte rate ich euch ab (da sie vom Geschmack nicht mit der Wiener Sachertorte vergleichbar ist), alles andere wirkt jedoch sehr ansprechend und das Tiramisu ist sowieso die Nummer 1! :)

I need tiramisu whenever I’m in Italy, so I did my research before heading to Rome. My fellow Unilocalers, as well as all of the travel blogs I read, told me to head to Bar Pompi immediately. SO glad I did — I’d agree it’s the best tiramisu in Rome.
Location: If you’re looking at most maps of Rome, this place is so far away that it’s off the map. However, it’s so easy to get here: take the metro to the Re di Roma stop, and then it’s literally a 2 minute walk from there.
Food: On a tight budget, we skipped expensive dinner prices and went for aperitivo instead. There’s an 8 euro minimum drink order, and then there were 5 – 6 dishes including rice, pasta salad, barley salad (YUM!), cheesy bread, crostini, pizza, and what looked like miniature arancini. Overall, the food wasn’t too bad, though some dishes were getting cold quickly. Go up and serve yourself as much as you want!
Drinks: Lovely! My favorites were the Georgia Peach, classic mojito, and the good ol’ Aperol spritz. There’s a pretty extensive drink menu, so have fun!
Dessert: 4.50 euro for a little slice of heaven, also known as tiramisu. AMAZING. There are 4 or 5 types (classic, or topped with mixed berries, strawberries, pistachios, etc.) — all of us got different kinds and loved each one of them. Still, classic tiramisu will always have my heart. I got it without whipped cream, but I’m sure it’d be sensational with it.
Everything else: A little rough getting seated — just make sure to talk to a server as soon as you come in, otherwise they’ll think you’re just looking at the bar. We sat in the back for aperitvo, and they had blue lighting + a DJ spinning some disco music??? Odd choice for aperitivo, but the music got better during the night.
Can’t wait to come back. Tiramisu, I miss you already!

I agree with Andrew, this is indeed the best tiramisu in Rome and it does take a bit to get to. But as inspiration, let me correct him: this is the best tiramisu in ITALY and/​or THE WORLD. I encourage folks to challenge me on that.
It is located off of a busy roundabout south of the Termini train station. It is close to the metro stop Re di Roma. If you take the metro and get off there, just ask anyone where Bar Pompi is and they will point you to the right spoke of the wheel.
The Bar is hopping at night with Italians, especially with young Italians (think high school guys posturing on their motos in the parking lot out front). It is also a go-​to place for young Italian couples to get kissy over an espresso and a tiramisu. Why don’t you join?
On a nice evening, you will have to do a bit of hovering to grab a great table out front. The tiramisu is soooo worth it. Worth the commute. A taxi from Termini shouldn’t cost more than 15 euro. Or, it is possible to walk from Termini or the Colosseo, as long as you stick to the main streets, Via Appia Nuova along the way has lots of shopping options as well to help you work off the tiramisu. Parking is available if you circle the block a couple of times.
