We walked down from the WACAVALIERI on Med d’ORO…about a 20 minute walk downhill… not the most interesting area in MONTEMARIO… seems like there should be more restaurants and so on but the route left us heading towards the TIBER and we debated where to eat… Walking by, noticed lots eating outside, plates full, looked hearty… went in for the a/c, big tables of mostly natives… Would pass on the rice balls… fried olives with much better… I was getting into the fried rice balls but they need a bit more cheese(and some kind of dip, my pet peeve). Noticed that the olives disappeared pretty fast. Pastas very good, one pesto with meat and the other a carbonara which sonny boy took over. We also got the small roast pig which arrived with roast potatoes: exceptional! Maybe another bit under the broiler for the skin to crackle a bit more… Seems like family run… waiters look like they have been there forever! Would stop again, carbonara and pork and would get the appetizer bar.
