I ate plenty of gelato during my two weeks in Italy, but came precariously close to missing out on a lesser-known frozen Italian dessert: granita. Granita is dairy free, and similar to sorbet, but with a coarser texture. At La Granita, you can get a generous bowl for € 2.50(I couldn’t manage to finish it); whipped cream is an additional € 0.50. The almond flavor was delicious; the texture was a bit weird(ground almonds), but really tasty. The watermelon and peach were both really fruity and refreshing. They also offer gelato, and the option of getting your granita or gelato on brioche, but I was quite a happy camper with my granita and whipped cream.
