First let me start by saying that the spaghetti with seafood was very good. The reason for the low score is because the service ruined the meal. The food took forever and the people next to us arrived after us but were served first — not sure if it was because they were Italians and we spoke English. Second we were charged for tap water and when we questioned it they gave us some lame excuse about its confusing but took it off the bill.

We had a delightful lunch there in October of last year in the outdoor patio. There were 6 of us and, yes, reservations are recommended. Give yourself some extra time in nice weather as parking is difficult to find nearby. The food is excellent, the service is exceptional and the cost is no more than you would expect to pay at a comfortable and popular seaside restaurant. Don Luigi runs a first class operation and oversees everything. After our lunch, we were treated to sciacchetra, courtesy of Don Luigi who must have liked the way we enjoyed his hospitality. One other plus. My brother-in-law lost his wallet a few days earlier on a prior trip to Sestri. Someone found it on the promenade and dropped it off at the restaurant. Don Luigi then telephoned every hotel in Sestri looking to return it to its owner. Now that’s the kind of special attention I look for in a restauranteur. Grazie, Don Luigi! You’ve earned all 5 stars.

Fazit: Wir kommen gern wieder. Diesmal sicher mit Reservation.

Starting from the end: always reserve, as it’s very very difficult in suummer and in the weekends to find a table before 22:00. Why? Because you can have one of the best pizzas in the area, but especially the focaccia pizzata, that is a cheese focaccia, with tomato, olives and oregano added to it: simply magnificent!!! Or, enjoy seafood, fish and pastas, maybe after a quick antipasto. Good wines, nice place and quick and kind service complete the 5 stars award!
