Ate here three times while I was in Sorrento it was so good. In my opinion, the best pizza in the world… and I’m from Brooklyn!

The pizza was good at Da Franco, but in my opinion does not deserve all the high praise below. Try Da Gigino, just a few blocks away, if you want great pizza in Sorrento.

Simply the best pizza ever! Waited about 15 min to get seated on a Friday night around 10pm. If you don’t want to wait another 20 min for the dessert to come out, order at the same time as your main course.

No frills dining, but the locals recommend it. Good food at reasonable prices. Gets a thumbs up from me…

The pizza is fresh and crispy! The atmosphere isn’t anything special. You could be seated with others but we enjoyed talking with the locals; it made it feel more homie rather than just going out to eat. Order different pizzas and share.

Really good pizza, efficient service, casual atmosphere with big tables, which are shared when it gets busy. Recommended by my Italian friends, who live in Sorrento. Not a place for an intimate dinner. Fun with a group of friends.

That’s good pizza! Sorry, great pizza . It’s not a sit on the street and sip wine for the day kind of place. It’s strictly a pizza place, a great pizza place.

YES. YESYESYESYESYES. Hands down, probably one of(if not the) best pizzas we tried in Italy. Cheap(relatively speaking) and casual with a mix of tourists & locals in this joint. Service is quick and oh my goodness I’d come back here again if I ever go back to Sorrento. Our hotel recommended this to us and I can see why it has so many reviews, it’s totally worth the visit.

Not sure why there is so much hype about this restaurant! We ordered the buffalo mozzarella pizza and it was the worst pizza I had my whole trip in Italy. Very very greasy and without any flavor. Hoping we just made a bad ordering decision.

The place to eat in Sorrento. Franco was the first spot recommended to us by a local as soon as we arrived in town. Unlike most of its tourist-trap neighbors, the place definitely prizes food over fashion. There isn’t much in the way of décor, unless you count long wooden tables and about a million Iberian hams hanging from the ceiling. Franco’s yummy bacon bread is a bit tough, but you can think of it as a jaw warm-up maybe? Each pizza is wood-fired to order and served piping hot. The thin crust is chewy yet crispy in classic Italian style. We sampled the classic Margherita pizza, which tasted incredibly fresh. The real winner though was the Franco special with Tomato, Mozzarella, Arugula, and Parmigiano. Pair it with one of their beers or wines and prepare to take a happy snooze for the rest of the afternoon. Franco’s staff will generally stay out of your way. Their menu is surprisingly long, and if I’m ever in the area again I will be sure to sample more of their wonderful cuisine.

Everyone tells you to come here and it was fantastic. There was some sort of cured meat hanging from the ceiling which was fun. The tomatoes to start were great and the pizza with sausage and mushrooms was top notch. Only issue was the service wasn’t great but it was part of the experience. Atmosphere wasn’t elegant at all but you go there for the food, not the frills. Fun experience, great food, would highly recommend!

The Bottom Line on Top: Understandably overshadowed by its famous counterparts in nearby Naples, Pizzeria Da Franco nonetheless serves some of the world’s best pizza and calzones in a charming and authentic setting. The Review: Everyone knows that Naples is home to a bevy of the world’s best and most famous pizza restaurants. But old Napoli doesn’t have the pizza market completely cornered. Not far from this Epicurean epicenter lies Sorrento, the sleepily swingin’ tourist haven, filled with great food of it’s own. Foremost among the many culinary options is Da Franco’s. The wood fired oven creates a phenomenal rustic pie that is an excellent counterpoint to the delicate Neapolitan style pizza that you no doubt enjoyed up the road. Skip the weird meat bread they bring as an appetizer and save room for one of the world’s finest calzones to accompany your pizza. Da Franco’s is also a fantastic deli. PROTIP: Get a pie with prosciutto on it and just eat the freshly cut slices right off the top of your pizza as an appetizer. Thank me later. Truly some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. Big thanks to Rick Steves for featuring this wonderful pizza paradise in his travel guide. Naples does indeed make the world’s best pies, but if heaven was a pizzeria, it would be just like Pizzeria Da Franco in Sorrento, Italy.

Unilocal to the rescue… After many long(and delicious), multi-course meals in Sorrento; we were ready for a low-key lunch. Da Franco was that and more. The clientele was an equal mixture of locals(a good thing) and tourists(expected). Seating is at long wooden tables. Our server came over quickly to take our order, and brought our drinks soon after. Pizzas for one are well sized for 1 person and served on paper on top of metal trays. The margherita pizza had a good tomatoes/sauce(very fresh with a mild natural sweetness) to cheese ratio. The cow’s milk and porchetta pizza was a revelation. The creaminess of the cow’s milk cheese(similar to a smooth ricotta) paired so well with the saltiness of the porchetta. Tiny potato crisps added a nice texture. Crust was excellent on both pizzas, cooked to a chewy/crispiness without being burnt. Lunch(including 2 sodas) was € 18. A great deal and a great meal. Highly recommend!

Best Pizza in Sorrento and one of the best pizza experiences of our recent trip to Italy. De Franco is a nice causal place with very friendly staff. Prices are reasonable especially for beer(66cl 4euro) and wine. The Pizza cooked in a wood fired oven has a delicious crust and excellent topping options. Bench seating and no frills which adds to the charm of the family owned local establishment.

We were recommended this by our driver and it did not disappoint! Very delicious pizza and easy beers and seating. We had the Margarita and another i can’t remember the name(had ham, olives, mushrooms etc) and both were very good! order the small each, they’re still pretty big for 2 ppl to have one each and share. Order the tall beer too, it’s cheaper than 2 smalls! it was very well priced, and i didn’t feel rushed or that it came to quickly. Perfecto!

We were off to an okay start with our caprese salad(despite only having two small leaves of basil). But once or pizzas arrived, we met disappointment. The sausage and artichoke was too salty and both ingredients rated good on its own, the sausage and mushroom was meh, and the primavera(prosciutto, rocket, and parmesan) was okay. All of the pizzas we really greasy(and not just added olive oil) and none had tomato sauce(which would be fine if they tasted better). Add two juice bottles and our meal came to € 32. The bathroom has no toilet seats and you’ll get plastic forks and knives(which are insufficient for cutting this pizza).

This a great stop for a tasty lunch or late night snack. The pizza is not mind-blowing, but it is very good. It does have a very flavorful oil that tops it’s crust that you can only get from a legit place like this one. Some fresh and lovely caprese too. Be sure to visit the lemon orchard across the street too.

Pizza heaven! This is the local pizza place with great prices and a good atmosphere. Very casual with a wide range of pizza. The mozzarella, Parma ham and rocket was absolutely fantastic! Selection of beers, wines and soft drinks also available. Due to popularity, you might have to wait for a while on a table but it is worth it!
