Bam Bar

Delicious granite (I got strawberry and almond + brioche). Get it with the brioche and get them both into your mouth at the same time (e.g. dip /​spread).
Friendly owner translated menu for me and suggested adding the brioche.

It is THE place to get granite. So many choices, and the servers are as sweet and charming as can be.

You can never have too much of the glorious dessert known as granita. Though it’s found all over Italy, it’s a well-​known fact that Sicily does it best… and in Sicily, Bam Bar is absolutely the best of the best of the best. This place is near and dear to my heart, and if I could, I would give it 5 million stars and then some!
There are SO many things to love about Bam Bar. The owner (I think he’s always wearing orange) is such a character. Knowing at least 6+ languages, he tries to guess what country you’re from and just starts speaking to you in that language. So entertaining! The location is great and easy to find — if you sit outside, there’s great people watching (though they only have tables for 2), while inside seating is cozy and you get to see the pictures of all of the celebrities who have visited!
The granita itself (about 4 euro) is completely MINDBLOWING. It’s icy, sweet, and smooth — and the flavors are unbelievable. The fruit flavors are so fresh that it feels like you’re literally eating perfectly ripe fruit, just in granita form. Absolutely no artificial flavors here! For each granita, you can choose up to two flavors, including strawberry, raspberry, lemon, orange, melon/​cantaloupe, lime, almond, coffee and chocolate, plus even more seasonal flavors. Peach and orange are by far the best in terms of freshness and taste. Unbelievably delicious.
The best part is that granita is perfect for any time of the day: we’d come here after going to the beach, before classes, after dinner, or even for breakfast! Don’t look at me like I’m crazy. It’s seriously a Sicilian thing to eat a granita and brioche to start off your mornings!
Skip every other granita in Sicily (and Italy!) and go straight to Bam Bar already. You’ll never regret it!
