Very good. I was a little unsure after reading the other reviews but we had a focaccia and a tuna salad which were both excellent. Good supermarket too. Note that there is another, bigger store in Turin which is probably worth checking out if you are able to.

I am not sure what the fuss about this place is all about? It was packed when we arrived and had to wait for about 15 mins for a table. We then had to wait for about 10 mins to get a waiter and then order and pay on the spot before the food actually arrived. There are two sections to this place a red and a blue section. The blue section has English & Italian menus and mostly salads and things and the red section only has Italian menus with mostly pasta and main courses. We originally sat in the blue section and then moved over to the red section. I ordered their daily pasta special and a chinotto. The pasta arrived quickly and it tasted ok but lacked flavour and punch. I had to add salt as it was lacking a bit. The bread bag they have you was ok nothing to write home about. All in all an ok meal. Given that many places were closed we ended up here otherwise I would not come here again. Nothing special about this place at all for me, I am afraid.

A nice little food emporium in the center of town with an abundance of Italian goods in one spot. I had dinner here last night and ordered their pasta di giorno of vesuvi pasta with sausage, tomatoes, and red peppers. The order was not prepared properly: the pasta was undercooked and hard so I complained and they prepared it again. Otherwise, the dish was just okay. Not as good as pasta I’ve eaten in San Francisco or Rome. It’s rare though to find a multi-source shop for all your cooking needs. Wish I could buy all the products, but oh well.

Eataly is quickly becoming an institution, not only in Italy but in few other countries in the world(Eataly has a boutique on 5th Av. NYC, sadly no stores in the country where I live, yet). The founder had the brilliant idea to start a chain of supermarkets offering only the best products from all Italian regions(from Piedmont’s hazelnuts to Sicilian cactus fruit jams). The quality is the focus and, that’s the whole point of Eataly. At Eataly you can also have lunch or dine, and most of the dishes are prepared with top quality ingredients from their selection. It is quite a new experience to have your food inside a supermarket. I was not so impressed by the food they prepare, it’s a bit rushed, and simple but after all Eataly is not a restaurant, so fair enough. I’d give 3 stars to the food served at the table and 7 stars to Eataly’s concept. That makes a total of 5 stars.

I read so much about this place and had my hopes up a bit too high… I found out that this was the small Eataly, and that the big one is somewhere else in Turin. Needless to say, the idea is fantastic. Eat and shop for food in the same place. The tables were packed in, so you really couldn’t do much shopping since people were sitting at the tables and you couldn’t get in to see the shelves. My waitress was probably the worst one I have had ever in my history of restaurant eating, seriously, if she worked in the US where tips matter, she would starve. She never smiled once and was actually rude to us when we asked about a menu item. we asked how the fish was prepared that came with a pasta, was it fried? She said, its fish but shrugged and made a face at us, like we were asking a stupid question. She quickly realized we were foreigners and blew us off. She took our order, gave us the bill and asked us to pay right there and never came back to us. Someone else brought us our food and wine and no one asked us if we needed another thing, we looked for waiters to ask for pepper, then parmesan cheese. Something else really… I ordered a soup which was tasty but nothing to write home about. My husband ate a pasta dish with fish!!! It was tasty but nothing spectacular. Wine was good. Service poor. They have many locations so I will try another, hopefully they have better trained staff in the common courtesy field.
