Absolutely loved this place. It’s a must to visit. Italians know how to drink & serve coffee best. I couldn’t do without 3 – 5 servings of Italian Espresso, daily. It’s part of the daily life there. They really know how to live life & indulge. This place had an unforgettable ambience. Luxurious in every way!!!

The Oldest Café int he World? If you let the people in Venice tell the story, they will say that Caffe Florian(1720) is «the oldest café in the world!» There are some Parisians who would disagree and say that Café Procope(1686) is actually the oldest. Some get into technicalities like«continuously working» or «continuous operation» but whatever you want to use to justify Caffe Florian’s place in history; there is no arguing it is at least the oldest café in Italy! Sitting comfortably in Piazza San Marco in Venice; Caffe Florian is the perfect location to rest your feet, relax and grab a bite to eat. My only warning is that if you choose to sit outside and enjoy the sounds of the mini-orchestra then you should to expect to pay a few more Euros. Because of this, I opted to sit inside at the bar – the Euro is still not friends with the Dollar! I just love their menu. With so many options it is hard to make a decision. Because this is the oldest café in the world, I decided to get a cappuccino and cookies as a lite mid-day snack inside. The service is fantastic and I even made a new friend – Daniele! It took everything in me to walk past the sweets but I somehow managed. Overall I was very pleased with my Caffe Florian experience and I highly recommend anyone visiting Venice to make it a point to stop in just to experience what Florian has to offer.

One of The World’s Great Caffes. Set in an Unbeleivable World-Class setting in Piazza San Marco, VENICE, Italy. Caffe Florian has been in continuous operation Since 1720 and has served the likes of: Napoleon Bonaparte, Winston Churchill, Gar Cooper, Aristotle Onasis, Rock Stars, Movie Stars, Kings, Queens, Princes, and Princesses, Heads of State, You, Me and Your Grandmother. It’s a Bit EXPENSIVE these days, but well worth it, You Couldn’t buy this for a Million Bucks or Euros for that matter, so whats $ 15 for a Cappuccino ??? I Just Love It!

Review #500: A Splurge of Lavish Luxury On the beautiful islands of Venice(118 to be exact), nestled in the famous Piazza San Marco, is Caffe Florian. Initially, I was scouring the plaza looking for free WiFi and picked up a signal from this place, and when we looked inside it was packed full of people. We checked out the menu outside the door and holy crap, 15 euros for a cappuccino?! Are the people inside CRAZY?! Yup, they are. …and then my friend and I decided to jump on the bandwagon and join the crazy people inside… The décor of Caffe Florian is old. Antique-y even. I mean, the place has been around since 1720 so I guess it’s fitting for a place that’s nearly 300 years old to look this way. But there is a certain charm to this café that I can’t quite describe. The waiters are all dressed very dapper in suits and they serve everything you order on a fancy tray. The setting is fit for a queen, however, oddly enough all the patrons are casually dressed. After sifting through the menu we decided on three things: A coffee(14), a pot of tea(9.5), and 3 scoops of ice cream(13.5). I didn’t get to try my friend’s coffee, but let me just say that the tea and ice cream were fantastic. I think they laced the ice cream with something because I’m not sure if I’ve ever enjoyed ice cream that much before. Or maybe because it was the most expensive ice cream I’ve ever had so my mind tricked me into thinking it was amazing. Who knows, but I have to say I am definitely a fan of this place. Thankfully, we already had lunch and were only in there to have some coffee, tea, and ice cream. 37 euros poorer and surprisingly, we still left the café very satisfied. What is it about this place? They rip you off and you still leave happy! What can I say, it’s a splurge, but when in Venice, why not? YOLO!

Totally agree with the other reviews. It is an extremely expensive place. You will have better food somewhere else but it is good. The drinks are very expensive. I think we spent nearly $ 70 on a sandwich, diet coke, orangina, and dessert. There might be something else in there as well. It is the experience though. It is a historical wonder and the cost for the orchestra is worth it. Come to San Marco Plaza at night if you want a real treat. It is much calmer and the daytrippers empty out. It is literally night and day at this location.

Caffe Florian on Piazza San Marco should definitely be on your bucket list. If you’re looking for a bargain stay away. But if you’re looking for a once in lifetime experience go there. We went just after dark on a beautiful evening in late October, The doors were open and the orchestra was playing(you pay a E 5.80 cover for that) and it was absolutely delightful. We sipped our drinks and coffee for about an hour and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It cost 44EURO but honesly it was worth it for the once in a lifetime experience. It has been there since 1720 and is so immaculately kept that you would have no idea it’s nearly 300 years old. Treat yourself once! Pay a visit.

Best Living Room in the World in the Best City in the World” I went to Florian days ago in the morning for the first time even though I have been to Venice quite a few times. I just had a cappuccino infact I didn’t even look at the menu’. Cost 15 Euros including the orchestra. I totally agree with u my fellows reviewer, or at least in parts. Let’s do the dysectomy. The orchestra costs 6 Euros, if u stay for an hour as I did,(I think my last drop of cappuccino went below 10 degrees!!) think of it like attending a mini concert in which case I think is a fair price. The cappuccino costs 9 Euros wich is a good cappuccino but not the best I ever head, 7 times the price u pay in an ordinary bar. Now if u seat in a place which has nearly 300 years of History overlooking San Mark’s Square, The Basilica and the Doge’s Palace with the orchestra, do I need to say more? Yes I am prepared to shell out 15 euros for a cappuccino and a life time experience. Will I go there again? Probably not, besides u don’g go there for a meal unless u are really nuts! I am more than glad that I did tough.

Beautifully decorated and elegant café. Appeared high end yet I felt comfortable sitting in my jeans for a light lunch. We sat inside since it was a chilly October day. The staff was pleasant and efficient. The prices a bit high, but it’s located in touristy San Marco Square, so we were expecting high prices. I got a hot chocolate which was thick, rich, and a tad bitter for my taste. It came with two wafer cookies which helped sweeten up the taste for me. Doug got an Espresso, which he enjoyed. And we both shared a Club Sandwich Florian, it was a very different sandwich with smoked beef and asparagus cream sauce on the side. We both liked it. I doubt we’d go back if we were in Venice again, there are so many eateries to chose from, but it was a nice experience.
