Tolles Coffeeshop mitten in Venedig. Gute Qualität und große Auswahl zum sehr sehr fairen Preis. Willkommene Abwechslung zur sonst üblichen Touristen-Abzocke

Okay for a quick meal. My friends and I were running late to our guided tour of the Torre dell’Orologio and we needed to grab a bite to eat. It’s standing room only but you can choose to stand around the counter and have your coffee/drink/food. I ordered my food to go — a tomato and cheese calzone because I was little sick of prosciutto. Lo and behold — what do I find when I bite in? Prosciutto! I actually didn’t mind that they got my order wrong because it was pretty good. That, or I must have been starving. Probably a mix of both? But when I got towards the middle, it was almost ice cold — so they hadn’t heated it thoroughly. Upon reading the reviews of my fellow Unilocalers, I’ve discovered that this is actually a coffee chain. So I guess complaining about the quality of their food wouldn’t really be fair. It would be the equivalent of me going into Starbuck’s and making a fuss about their sandwiches. They’re not meant to be great — just meant to fill you up if you don’t have time to eat. If I ever return to Italy, I wouldn’t mind stopping by for a cup of coffee.

Yeah, it’s a coffee chain in Italy. But you know what, they don’t have Starbucks here for a reason. The coffee here is a hundred times better than you can get at home. Just go pay and give your receipt to the barista. An awesome tasting cappuccino awaits your tastebuds. They sell pastries in addition to coffee and coffee beans. They have thick hot chocolate here too. Indulge and enjoy since you’re in Venice. It’s a relatively modern looking café and the service is excellent. Great for souvenirs to bring home too.

Gorgeous little coffee shop that serves great coffee and all sorts of cakes, biscuits, croissants and other wonderful Italian delicacies. Early in the morning this place is jam packed with locals and it is obviously a very popular spot. Stand at the counter and sip your coffee and perhaps nibble on something. I do always wonder how they can fit so many people in such a tiny space :-) looks like a family business run by a woman who was busy giving orders to everyone and made sure the place was under control amidst all the chaos. I would go here to just stand around a watch young and old Italians and tourists try to vie for attention sip their coffee and leave :-) quite the social experiment I would say ;-) For € 1 you get a macchiato :-))) what’s not to like about that? A grade coffee for a very reasonable price.

You can’t miss Goppion Caffe’s location on a well-lighted corner in San Polo. Contrary to other Venetian coffee houses, this is a place where everything is shiny, new and modern looking. Sure, it’s a chain, but their coffee is fair trade and they carry Italian chocolates if you want to buy souvenirs. But unlike a Starbucks chain, this place has cioccolata calda suprema! oh. my. I wasn’t even served a typical hot chocolate, it was as if, they took a bar of dark chocolate and melted it down. Why didn’t I get this with whipped cream? Why didn’t I get this with biscotti? Why is everything better in Italy? LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.
