I really don’t know why this place has 4 stars. Unilocalers, c’mon now! The food was just terrible. I ordered the mixed fried fish platter and it was the worst seafood that I had in Italy, it just smelled terrible. The tagliatelle with bolognese sauce was just pasta and little bits of meat. NOSAUCE. The service was ok, nothing great or terrible. I only stopped here because it had 4 stars and was right by my apartment but I really don’t suggest that you waste a beautiful meal in Venice on this place. They need a new chef and fresh ingredients!

RIbot started out fantastic. .as I ordered the first plate of gnocchi which were delicious. The second plate took about an hour to arrive which was where they lost me. It was not a packed place so I am not sure what was going on in that kitchen. My second plate, swordfish, was fair. It was cooked well but the vegetables were cut in a way that it was nearly impossible to get them on the fork. imagine that. The wine selection was very good and very nice. Wait staff and ambiance was very nice.

More for locals than tourists, the food was plentiful and delicious– great pastas, delicious seafood fresh as can be and excellent salads make for a great experience. Combine this with a beautiful garden setting and relaxed service and this becomes a real winner

We came here based on the decent reviews on Unilocal.When we arrived for lunch, there was only one other table there. That didn’t stop the service from being incredibly slow. Since it was lunch, we opted for a light lunch. We split an order of fried, stuffed zucchini flowers, and we both ordered the squid ink linguini with cuttlefish. We also ordered a bottle of wine which was kind of average. The bread they brought was pretty much stale which is just unacceptable. When the zucchini flowers arrived, they were a bit pale looking which is unfortunate. They were also cold in the middle which indicated that they were probably made in advance and frozen. Not a good sign. The pasta was okay, but kind of boring with very few pieces of cuttlefish. I was so disappointed with eating here. I had high hopes, and it’s clearly substandard when it comes to all the amazing Italian food you can get in other places in the city.

Went with a group of four without a reservation. They sassed us a little but had no problem accommodating us and making us feel comfortable in English. The food was top notch without the crazy prices. Each of us ordered two courses and everyone’s food was spot on. Not a loser in the whole meal. The items we are still talking about the next day are the seafood risotto(for 2) and the swordfish steak.

Ribot has indoor seating but the outside courtyard is quite charming. Menus are provided in English and the staff is attentive and friendly. Prices are very reasonable and portions were larger than expected. I received a large… possibly too large portion of grilled octopus. It was delicious but after devouring it, I actually was getting quite full. As if I did not have enough of it already, I also ordered the octopus pasta. Thankfully, there was no overkill of octopus in the pasta. The pasta dishes were okay. The veal roll was quite small but tender nonetheless. It also included a healthy portion of vegetables. Just three blocks from the Grand Canal and across the water from the train station in a quiet neighborhood, this is a great restaurant with super local atmosphere and a great selection of Venitian dishes. We loved the friendly service, and the wide array of local Venitian specialties.
