Torino

Reading the two negative comments I have to share my experiences, too.
I have been there twice and will try to book this hotel a third time, if I ever will return to Venice.
The first time was coincidence. I was looking for a hotel close to the Center and found the Torino. Price was 150 per night, but other hotels in the vicinity were not cheaper. Hey, it’s Venice! Location is perfect and our large room was a dream in blue with textile wall papers. It looked, as if we had a room in Versailles visiting the King. Do not forget: the house is 500 years old and most likely was never build to have a bathroom attached to each room. Nevertheless the bathroom was in top modern condition as everything in this room. We stayed there for three nights and were very satisfied. With the exception of the very small breakfast room and the limited food there it was perfect.
The second time I booked the Torino was in 2015. I was really happy to get a room again. This room was totally different than the first one, as it was the only room on the second floor. Directly below the roof, very low ceiling, tiny bathroom (of course with a shower), perfectly modernised including AC. We were absolutely amazed by this. I will add some photos. Again we had two or three fine nights there.
So I can clearly recommend this hotel. It is unique compared to all the other hotels I have been in my life. And: I got two totally different rooms, each very remarkable in its own way. Most of the hotels I have been in my life I have forgotten very fast, but the Torino is something special in a positive way, at least for me.

We booked the rooms for a hefty ~€ 200 per night expecting the same grandiose and luxury as depicted online. Upon our arrival today, however, we were instead greeted by a small lobby with a pair of baby flies buzzing around. The receptionist took ages to check us in, partly because he insisted on collecting city tax and processing our passports with us present (other hotels we stayed at in Paris, Isigny, Rome, and Florence permitted us to go to our rooms, first).
When he finally finished, there was a bellman ready to show us to our rooms. He lead us outside of the main building and down a tiny side alley, complete with construction scaffolding overhead, to the true location of our rooms. After lugging up our three large suitcases and three carry-​on bags, we were greeted instead with tiny rooms around the size of university dormitories, closet doors with missing handles, tiny museum-​worthy television sets that required two remotes to operate (one of which disappeared to God knows where), faulty outlets, and doors that required serious shoving to open and close. The showers stalls are also very tiny, and the air conditioning in the rooms are poor. Finally, to top it off, internet access and breakfast are not included.
The only benefits to the hotel are its location, which is a quick walk from the Giglio vaporetto stop and St. Mark’s Square, but the cons greatly override the hotel’s positive attributes.
We are currently attempting to negotiate room changes to something more suitable despite the uncooperative staff.
TL;DR — Stay away from Hotel Torino! We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Un hôtel cher et inconfortable
Pour notre première fois à Venise, nous avons cru notre agence de voyages qui vantait les mérites de cet hôtel installé dans un ancien palais (il faut dire que Venise regorge de palais). Le soir de notre arrivée, nous nous sommes donc présentés à l’accueil de l’hôtel. La personne de la réception nous a alors emmené au dehors quelques rues plus loin dans une annexe de l’hôtel donnant sur une ruelle étroite et sombre. Le café du petit-​déjeuner s’y prenait dans une machine automatique à jetons. Après avoir exprimé notre mécontentement, le maître d’hôtel nous a expliqué que le gérant réservait l’annexe aux voyageurs étant passés par les agences de voyages (les chambres de l’hôtel principal étant sans doute accordées en priorité aux Italiens). Après avoir fait un scandale, nous avons tout de même réussi à obtenir une chambre dans l’hôtel principal, le vrai ! Voici la description de la chambre: petite (environ 9 m2), la moquette est usée, la vue né donne pas sur le grand canal mais est tout de même lumineuse. Dans la salle de bains (~ 2,5 m²), il n’y a pas de bac à douche, le sol carrelé étant commun aux WC, au lavabo et à la douche: c’est certainement plus pratique pour l’entretien et le ménage mais il né faut pas avoir peur de se doucher juste à côté de la cuvette des WC ! Le lendemain matin, le gérant nous a spontanément proposé un voyage gratuit en bateau taxi vers l’Ile de Murano (les hôtels ont des contrats avec les fabriques pour y envoyer les touristes). En haute saison, le prix de la chambre est de 180 euros/​nuit ce qui me paraît très cher par rapport à la prestation.
