As of now, this is my most favorite restaurant in Italy!!! Ottimo ristorante! Senza dubbio 5 stelle! I cannot express in words how much I loved this charming restaurant, I would give more than 5 stars if I could! The value you get for the top notch quality prix-fixe lunch, the service, and the fabulous ambiance for 30 euro is just too good to pass! Located in a hill top medieval town of Verucchio, Mastin Vecchio benefits from its ideal location where guests can enjoy the gorgeous view of the beautiful surrounding village full of traditional stone wall buildings. After the meal, I suggest to visit«Rocca del Sasso»(just a few minutes walk from the restaurant), a fortress erected by the powerful Malatesta family who dominated the territory of Rimini in the 12th– 14th century. The name of the restaurant«Mastin Vecchio» was inspired by the famous Guelph leader from Malatesta family who was also mentioned in Dante’s «Inferno». Upon entering the restaurant, I felt as if I was transported back to the medieval time. The heavy stone walls, narrow windows, and vaulted arches speak of history with a bit of solemnness but the warm service creates a cozy and friendly ambiance. For a meat lover like myself, Mastin Vecchio’s succulent grilled beef wrapped with prosciutto was to die for!!! I was very impressed that the chef has used very fresh high quality local ingredients to create seasonal menus of Emilia Romagna’s favorite traditional dishes that are hearty, filling, and irresistable. I hope to go back there again very soon!!!
