Five stars, no less! I have stared eating here 20 years ago, and had not a single meal that was less than great ever since. If it’s mushroom season go for the sugo di funghi over your tortelli or strozzapreti, and for the funghi fritti as a side. Do leave room for the dessert: their Chantilly custard pies are to die for.

A little outside the city of Florence, you’ll find this corner place standing in front of the river, surrounded by the beautiful fields of Tuscany. Very popular among the riders who stop here during their country trips, it offers a local variety of meat dishes and homemade pasta specialties such as potato tortelli with wild boar or duck sauce, Florentine steak and homemade juicy cakes. Try their homebrew vodka after your espresso coffee. Remember to bring some cash, it’s quite pricey!
