Maybe not quite as grand as the name suggests, this is perhaps just a notch above a Premier Inn sort of standard in terms of décor and facilities. But the service is excellent, it’s very clean and has a few nice complementary touches such as bottled water in the rooms. I can’t quite stretch to five stars though.

Grand Palace has a majestic presents with it’s 23 floors over looking Kudanshita! Hmm…I’m not really lying but maybe that was more like 40 years ago when it was built. Now, the name is probably not so suitable anymore as it has aged quite a bit. Since, it’s is a charming hotel that is extremely close to Yasukuni Shrine and Budokan. Whenever there’s a concert at Budokan(a famous stadium used as a concert hall), this hotel would be packed. Having stayed here a few times on business, I’ve tried a few different rooms. Parts of the floors have been renovated but most of the rooms have still been the same since thee 70s. Still, I love the anonymity of it and how you can freely walk in and out with being checked on since there are so many guests in and out every day. Super convenient as a city hotel for those who needs to move around a lot and see a lots of sights in the CBD.
