I eat here 2 – 3 times each week trip I’m in Tokyo(Shibuya)… The service is pretty quick and efficient… If you are confused about what to order, step back outside and look at the myriad of plastic versions of 95% of their menu… by the way, what you will actually get will look almost identical to the plastic version… it’s pretty amazing how consistent their products are… I’ve had their several items and I confess, my favorite is the egg covered rice with beef sauce… I mix all that stuff together and it’s a fine dish… Their tempura seafood is also very good… Drink selection is sparse, at least for a ‘beer hall’… Stop in and enjoy edible version of their plastic art… ;) –b

Walking into Ginza Lion, you feel like you’re walking into an old Munich beer hall. Then you realize that you’re not actually in Munich, but rather in Tokyo. There are beautiful mosaics lining many of the walls, and it’s a huge hall with tables and chairs seating many, many folks. I would have expected that there would be a ton of tourists in here, but it didn’t feel touristy or kitschy. We tried two of the pretzels(and asked for some mustard on the side for dipping). It was really tasty, and the perfect thing to soak up the two huge Sapporos we were in the process of consuming. The beer selection is decent, though not as amazing as we were lead to believe. You’re going to get your standards – Sapporo, Yebisu, and Kirin, but the venue is worth going even if you’re already tired of drinking the same beer everywhere. It’s totally unique and something that you definitely don’t expect.

Worth a visit for beer lovers visiting Tokyo. A decent selection of styles from the Sapporo/Yebisu portfolio, including a craft pale ale. Interesting architecture and great for lunchtime brews since most bars dont open til six pm or later. A very American pub menu

My friend was really craving for some western food and this is so far the best of all the places we went to. Good beer and good food! Not some bad Japanese try to be fusion like Pizza Hut here! Good is better than places in the U.S.

The massive hate I got from this place as well as the prevalent secondhand smoke despite being seated in the non-smoking section still didn’t deter me from trying to take a break to sip my beer and try not to think about how long my friend was taking at the world’s largest Uniqlo just across the street(it was hella long). I just needed a break from all the colors and screaming tourists in that shop, wow. This place looked cool from the photos, but as you enter, you’ll find it’s quite quirky. It’s a massive beer hall with little tables and it’s Japanese trying to pull off German and it’s quite interesting if not cute. There’s Japanese bar food, but I was hoping to bar-hop after that(that was unsuccessful in this immediate area. If someone finds out otherwise, please let me know) so declined. My friend was supposed to meet us at the beer hall but really spent a long time shopping, so my buddy and I just shared a beer– Yebisu half half. Anyway, this place is very popular so they want you out if you’re just drinking a beer. Prices were not that bad, but I didn’t feel the most comfy here, so out I hopped to our next destination!

Rundown — Smoking section isn’t really sectioned off. — Servers seem a little frantic, not the typical Japanese service — had the shironohira premium white — 琥珀 エビス Kohaku yebisu beer. After shopping in Ginza for most of the afternoon, we stopped by for a few beers. I can’t comment on the food, but I saw most people ordering food with their beer. We ordered the Shironohira white beer and the Kohaku Yebisu beer. Both were really good and I’m sad that I can’t find this at home.

Oh my. The place is huge and staff is efficient, but it is just not a beer hall. There is no interaction between patrons. I went alone, stayed alone and always will be alone in a place like this. There is not bar to mingle. You get grabbed by the door, pushed to a table and if you are lucky a waiter will come by and get you a beer. The atmosphere is just appealing.

Nice spot to get out of the craziness and grab a quick beer. It has a very German feel to it but serves up the usual Japanese affair. I only grabbed a few beers here but food is also available. 1. Beer. It’s big, it’s cheap, it’s beer. Nothing really novel here but I’m a fan of anyplace that can serve me up a mug on the cheap. Sopporo is the main player here. 2. Atmosphere. Large and open, very reminiscent of a German beer hall. The openness does lead to a lot of echoing sound. The clientele seemed to be older men, at 26 I may have been the youngest one in a fairly packed hall. Nice spot to have a beer and a chat if you don’t mind a bit of noise. May return if I find myself in the area again. Overall Grade: C+

FANTASTICPLACE! We went through the Imperial Garden, then took a detour to Ginza. We had no idea about this Beer Hall, and we saw that they had an array of foods from different countries. We decided why not? What we loved: –the atmosphere is so fun. A hodgepodge of tables with no rhyme or reason of placement, so you get to be chummy with the table next to you, which actually set us up to meet someone who pointed us to an amazing selection of beer and food! –Food is on point. Not AMAZING, but definitely delicious! –Beer is awesome, but beer is awesome anywhere. — We got lucky and didn’t have to wait long for anything. It seems like it can get incredibly busy at times, but we seemed to get in and get our food in a fairly quick manner. –It’s located right in the heart of Ginza, so easy to do some shopping, jump in for some food/drinks, then jump back out for more shopping. –only about 5 minutes from the JR station.

Went here with my wife and father after visiting Uniqlo ginza, a much needed regfreshing break after the craziness of shopping at Tokyo‘s largest Uniqlo store. Time was around 2pm and pretty crowded, but not impossible to get in. I had the Kohaku Yebisu(琥珀エビス), and old man had the Sappori nama beer, and the wife tried the Premium White(白穂乃香). We all agreed the 琥珀エビス is the best beer. We also ordered 1 pretzel, which was really good just be forwarned when asking for the mustard to have them just put a little on the plate. We were giv

Great historical pub with lot’s of history and preserved décor. This place echoes with old tavern spirit from the beer fountains to smoke stained ceiling tiles. You’ll want to know it’s story, and with your first beer order; just ask. It will make for satiated knowledge satisfaction and good conversation. The brew menu consists of the majority of Sapporo product spectrum and is available in standard and larger Pilsner glasses. As far as food, its the main bar fair with lots of fried, rich and juicy meats. If you’re more looking for steak, the second floor offers everything on the first floor plus a sirloin menu. I recommend the Brazed Horsemeat, Pork-cutlet sandwiches and a glass of Edelpils. Kanpai!

Whenever I am in Japan, I always go to Ginza’s Lion Beer Hall with my family. It’s almost a tradition. My dad’s been going since he was in college and the place has not changed since! I love the architecture and atmosphere with the high ceiling and beautiful mosaics on the wall. The food here is pretty good too and they all go very well with beer! If you are in Ginza, stop by for a beer or two even if you are not hungry! I noticed that there are a couple of Ginza Lion’s in the area. Don’t go to the one that’s at the Ginza train station. You have to go to the one in the lion building. If you go in, and you don’t see a big mosaic in front of you, you are at the wrong one!
